Located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, this commune is a great place to spend a holiday with lots of things to see and do. Things to do on holiday to Caux, France

Visitors to Caux will be able to enjoy wonderful hikes and cycle rides in the Languedoc National Park. The region is also great for horse riding, mountain biking and tennis. There are many excellent places to play golf in the region including a course just 30 kilometres away at Beziers. Valras-Plage on the south coast is about 40 minute’s drive away. Here holidaymakers can relax on the beach and swim in the Mediterranean Sea. Visitors can also try several watersports in the region such as fishing, rafting, wind surfing and sailing. There are a number of restaurants, bars and cafes in and around Caux serving excellent local dishes. Places to visit on holiday to Caux, France

Holidaymakers will find many interesting places near Caux during their stay in the village. Pezenas is only 15 minutes away and features many antique and bric-a-brac shops as well as a couple of lovely old churches. Another pretty village well worth a visit is Marseillan at the end of the Canal du Midi. Here there are the quays of the port, the Church of Saint John the Baptist and the statue of Marianne, which is said to be the oldest in the country. Also nearby is the beautiful Italian garden of the Chateau de Margon. Beziers is a lovely city to visit just 40 minutes from Caux and has fine sights such as Saint Nazaire Cathedral and the Plateau des Poetes, which is a lovely park. The Fine Arts Museum, Saint-Jacques Museum and the Roman arena are also well worth seeing.

This region in the South of France is mild throughout the year but is hottest in July and August when the temperatures reach an average high of 25 degrees centigrade. As well as being the coldest months of the year at an average of 10 degrees centigrade, December and January are also the wettest with around 100mm of rain per month on average.

Caux is about 40 minute’s drive from Beziers Cap d’Agde Airport (BZR). Ryanair has flights to and from Bristol (BRS), London-Luton (LTN) and Stockholm-Skavsta (NYO). Four car hire firms are established at Beziers Airport including Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National/Citer. Alternatively Montpellier - Méditerranée Airport (MPL) is approximately one hour from Caux and has flights to and from various cities across Europe including Birmingham (BHX), Brussels-South Charleroi (CRL), Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN), London-Gatwick (LGW), London-Stansted (STN) and Madrid (MAD). This is a very well equipped apartment. It has a comfortably furnished, spacious, open plan kitchen/sitting room. The ‘kitchen’ has a dishwasher, oven and fridge/freezer along one wall. There is an air-conditioning unit above the TV/Media equipment. There are two separate ways from this room onto the L-shaped terrace that overlooks the storm channel that runs through Montagnac. There is a barbecue and plenty of chairs and loungers on the terrace. The washing machine is in the garage. The garage roller gate and the outside gates open and close by remote control. The apartment is in the older part of Montagnac. The streets are narrow and very peaceful. It only takes ten minutes to reach the square on foot. The main square has a Tourist Information office, adjacent to the SPAR shop. This is where we shopped rather than travelling to the supermarkets in Pezanas. The square has two cafes that serve lunch most days. The menus have a reasonable range of main courses. There is also a Pizza/kebab takeaway and a Boulangerie on the square. To eat out in the evening, try the BK Restaurant, located at the top of the square on the main road. The food and service are excellent. In closing, If you want a quiet holiday, this apartment would be an excellent choice. We enjoyed ourselves there.

Fantastic villa, peace and tranquility

Merlot is a wonderful villa, in a peaceful rural French village. The owners have equipped the property exceptionally well, thinking of everything you could need (and lots of home comforts) and there is very thing you could need for a fantastic holiday. There are several outside seating areas giving you options of sun or shade throughout the day. The interior give a living area, 3 bedrooms (one ensuite) and a further shower room/toilet. The property is air conditioned and has WiFi. The property has its own locked drive way with more than adequate space and is on a quiet road. The pool is great, private and peaceful and cool after sitting in the sun. The property is well placed to explore the local areas and attractions for example Pézenas (With large weekly market on Saturdays), Agde, and the dinosaur park. But also only just over an hours drive to Carcassone and Aigues-Mortes. Pézenas is the closest town and offers a range of supermarkets and restaurants. The owners are great and John was a great source of local knowledge and advice and together they are wonderful hosts.
