  • Charming gite

We enjoyed hot, sunny, cloudless days and made good use of the shady parts of the garden which affords total privacy and looks out over a reservoir. The property is fairly remote, with no shops or restaurants within easy walking distance so a car is essential. Accommodation is not as spacious as it seems on the website but it was fine for two of us and there is obviously work still going on to renovate other parts of the building. Decor is stylish and the kitchen is well-equipped.

If you are interested in being in a place that is not a "destination", but is truly french, try Gascony. We did not hear a word of unsolicited English for 10 days. Nony and Hugh have taken an old set of buildings and turned them into a magnificent getaway. We comfortably had up to 11 people on the property. Our outdoor feasting on the local meats, cheeses and produce will never be forgotten.. Nor were the two evenings we ate indoors at the huge dining table. No one who stayed wanted to leave - the place is that charming and comfortable. The grounds are perfect, with sweeping views of the most quiet countryside I have ever visited. The pool was in perfect shape. I felt compelled to water the plants every other day because they deserved it! You might find a cricket or two in the house, but if that is not your style there is always Disney World. (Go here)
