Tranquility With A Fantastic View & Helpful Owners

                              5 of 5
September 2010 Party of 3 for 14 Nights. The photo's do not really do this villa justice. It is set in a very quiet village halfway up a mountain in grounds with two other properties (all owned by the renter), Triangular parking space is out front with enough room to turn a vehicle around and for 4 vehicles to park. One of the properties is detached whilst the other two are joined. We heard very little noise from either of the parties in the joining villa during our stay. The interior of the villa is very roomy with both bedrooms having on-suite facilities (one a bath & the other a shower cubicle) and one bedroom is a double and the other a twin. We rented the linen and towels just to make our luggage lighter and these items were good quality. The kitchen has full utensils (including barbeque items, toaster, kettle etc) and has a large fridge/freezer, microwave, oven/hob, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. The lounge has a table with 4 seats but the sofa/bed combo was only really comfortable for 3 and a fourth person would have struggled to get comfy seating. Also the back of the sofa was not high and therefore lacked support. Outside there is a pool which is small but deep and so welcoming on a hot day and very refreshing. It is surrounded by wooden decking and the owner did warn us that this gets slippy when wet but we had no problems. There is a small garden of grass and we were instructed to help ourselves to the grapes that were growing on the vines surrounding this garden (and very nice they were too). There were two sun loungers (which meant one of us lost out) but six upright seats around the large table and umbrella shade. However, this is where the jewel of the villa is - the spectacular uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains - fabulous. Well worth the 6 hairpin bends you have to negotiate to get there. The owners were very helpful and always on hand looking after the properties but we didn't have any problems. In the locality there are a few restaurants that are very French in their cuisine (well what would you expect?) but the nearest supermarkets are in Calvi some 20kms away (Super U and Casino). This is a touristy place and abundant with eateries. However, L'ilse Rousse is about 30kms away and has a much better stocked Leclerc (and some cheaper restaurants). Would I recommend this villa to friend's traveling to Corsica? - Without a doubt. For peace, tranquility, a relaxing time and a spectacular view it is difficult to beat.
