Cajarc is yet another one of the tourist gems hidden in the Lot department of the Midi-Pyrénées region of southern France. This town is laden with history; it was one of the stops along a medieval pilgrimage route and has a medieval town centre. Visitors will also get the chance to immerse themselves in local culture as they interact with locals at social spots and cultural events. Cajarc is also bursting with natural beauty and is close to other equally picturesque locales. For their holiday home visitors can choose to stay in charming stone cottages or other kinds of houses depending on their budget and preference.

Things to do on holiday to Cajarc, France

This town is found at the heart of the Lot Valley and boasts a breathtaking view of the Lot River snaking its way through the Regional Natural Park. To make matters even prettier, on the edge of the town there is a row of medieval houses on the edge of the river and a 19th century stone bridge. The waters of the river allow for a number of outdoor activities including boating. The town itself is worth touring if only to see the 12th and 15th century structures it hosts. Summer visitors who remain to the end of July will have the chance to participate in the popular Africajarc event. This is a colourful four-day celebration of African music and culture which must not be missed.

One of the locales classified as one of France’s ‘most beautiful villages’ lies just 14km away from Cajarc. This is the village of Saint Cirq Lapopie and, positioned 80m above Lot River, visitors won’t get a better place in France from which to capture the beauty of the river. Add to this the prehistoric caves of Pech-Merle and nature lovers will have enough to keep them engaged for hours. But apart from natural beauty, there are the unique townscapes provided by this town’s unique buildings and narrow, cobbled streets. And in the midst of this picturesque scene are medieval buildings including a 15th century church and a couple of chateaus.

A wonderful house in a very beautiful location.

5 of 5
The house combines traditional and contemporary design to provide excellent and spacious accommodation. The house is set in a truly stunning location with a wonderful view over Najac and the surrounding hills. It's a wonderful location with peace and quiet to just look at the beautiful view. There are great walks either from the house or within easy reach. The location provides easy access to a range of historic towns and villages including Albi and Cordes. I would love to visit again!
