Lovely apartment

4 of 5
Lovely modern apartment, well furnished and equipped with everything you could need. Only English Channel is Sky News, Irish bar across the road shows football matches. The building the apartment is in badly needs some TLC. When we arrived the hall was full of old newspapers, magazines and bags of rubbish, this was cleared away 5 days later but not sure how long it had been there. The staircase is a steep spiral and would not be suitable for those less able. The apt is in a good location with supermarkets, restaurants and s few shops around, it is about a 20 minute walk to the cite and quite a nice walk. It's only about 5-10 minute walk to Canal de Midi where you can get boat trips for around 9 euros. Overall a lovely apartment and we enjoyed our stay.

It does exactly what it says on the tin!

Often properties are misrepresented on these sites but, not in this case. This pretty little house IS at the foot of the medieval city and there is direct access only moments away that, depending on your fitness, will have you in that magical place in five minutes or so. The property is large with two generous bedrooms a large and comfortable seating area and all the comforts you could ask for in a holiday location. The centre of the modern Carcassone is also a short walk so this really is a central location. Yet, it is a peaceful spot and quiet at night. There's a grocery and a newsagent a few doors away and I came to feel like a local going down in the morning to collect a baguette and paper and practice my French. Be warned, though, you won't find many people who speak English but, when you make an effort to speak French, they are gracious, friendly and helpful. Go if you like a quiet holiday, history, architecture and an excellent climate. Stay in this house if you want a home-from-home. Thank you Anna and Ian!
