Make a holiday villa in Cadenet your home away from home

For a gentle break in Provence browse HomeAway’s choice of holiday homes in Cadenet. Whether rustic and traditional or sleek and modern, villas in Cadenet will provide relaxation. With the enchanting landscape of the Luberon Natural Park as a backdrop, rentals here are in a peaceful and revitalising location. You can spend long, warm days unwinding in the garden or having a dip in private pools. You could also see where your curiosity takes you – there are exquisite old villages and historic towns to seek out, as well as a fine range of outdoor activities to enjoy from your Cadenet villa.

Things to do

-Picturesque villages. Cadenet is a typical Provence village definitely warranting a stroll. It sits at the base of rugged cliffs, at the top of which once stood a chateau. Today you can climb up for attractive vistas of the landscape, and to explore the historic tunnels belonging to the castle. Lourmarin is moments away from Cadenet, and listed as one of France’s most beautiful villages. It has the hallmark tangle of shaded old streets, local amenities and delightful old churches.

-Bike trips. Cyclists can ride sections of the long routes that showcase the best of the southern edge of the Luberon Natural Park. Starting right here in Cadenet is a tour of the Pays d’Aigues. Along quiet roads you can ride through vineyards and orchards, and stopping at some of the regions most charming medieval “perched” villages.

-Cuisine. This part of France is celebrated for its markets because of the exceptional quality of its produce. In Cadenet there’s a weekly market on Mondays, taking over the entire centre of the village, as well as a specialist farmer’s market on Saturday mornings during the summer. If you miss the local ones you simply catch the markets at Apt, Ansouis, Mérindol or Lourmarin. In season, local cherries, almonds and olives are fantastic.

-Days out. Aix-en-Provence is a lovely city and great choice for an excursion. It’s known for its elegant squares, plane tree-lined avenues, decorative fountains and ensemble of architecture from the 16th and 17th Centuries. Even closer, and tucked in the scenic heart of the Luberon is Apt. The old centre here has vaulted passageways, cobblestone streets and, in the form of Sainte-Anne Cathedral, an exciting piece of medieval architecture, home to an extensive crypt that dates to the Gallo-Roman period.

-Coast. One of the classic things to do in Provence is to make for the old harbour in Marseille to enjoy a bouillabaisse – a traditional fish stew served at the restaurants here. Extending southeast of this city are the legendary Calanques. This is an otherworldly coastal landscape of fjords, cliffs and towering promontories. You can discover it by boat or over land via a walking trail. If it’s beaches you crave, then there are six in the vicinity of Cassis, around an hour from the village of Cadenet.

Weather in Cadenet

Cadenet has a climate that’s common for inland Mediterranean regions. Summers last from May to late-September and bring long spells of hot, dry weather. Maximum temperatures range between 25 and 33 degrees in the middle of the season. If you visit a holiday home in Cadenet in spring or autumn then damper weather awaits, with temperatures that rise to the low-20s or high-teens. Winters are relatively dry here, and by British standards the weather is mild, with sub-zero conditions considered unsual.

Travel to Cadenet

Marseille Provence (MRS) is the closest major international airport. As one of France’s main five destinations it handles plenty of services from the UK all year round. The village of Cadenet is about 45 minutes from the airport, and you can get there by road using the A7 and switching to the D9 after Venelles. Avignon-Caumont Airport (AVN) is about the same distance away to the northwest, and has a couple of connections to the UK in the summer. Cadenet holiday rentals are set in a rural part of Provence, so a car is highly recommended.

Great apartment, excellent location and delightful roof terrace

4 of 5
Lovely apartment, clean and in an excellent location. Everything you need is provided and the roof terrace is a delightful bonus. Romain arranged for us to access the property at noon instead of the usual 3pm and he was in touch with us via email throughout our stay, great service. We used the property as a base for our stay in Provence and spent every evening in the beautiful town. Not to be missed are the daily markets. The only drawback are the steep stairs, we were ok but some less-mobile people would have problems with them. All in all we would had a wonderful holiday and would not hesitate to book the property again.

Perfect!

5 of 5
We have stayed at this house for the third consecutive year (once on our own as a couple, twice with friends and family) and we must say that we are always looking forward to come back! The house itself is amazing, spacious, bright and cosy at the same time. Outside the graden is immense and perfect to have kids around, enjoying the big swimming pool and huge trees shades for a nap. Totally recommend it - all the relevant information about the house and the area was very useful and the owners are very approachable and friendly.
