To coin a phrase, it does exactly what it says on the tin. There is no hype in the description; everything is in place to ensure a superb stay.
Jambles is a sleepy little village right in the middle of vineyards and one doesn't have to take the car to go wine-tasting. There are opportunities for "degustation" and wine purchase within walking distance.
There appears to be no commercial activity in the village other than wine production. The nearest bakers in St Desert needs a car ride but there's a baguette dispenser within 200 metres of the house. Givry, the nearest largish village has plenty of services including a tourism office and a small supermarket. It's only around 15 minutes to a large Leclerc superstore; others are available on the outskirts of Chalon.
The proprietors were very helpful upon our arrival, describing how all the appliances work. There is an adequate supply of games to keep youngsters and adults occupied and plenty of walks in the surrounding area. The views from "Mont Avril" (a 20 - 30 minute trudge) and from the "Moulin" (about the same walking time but less strenuous) are splendid. The pool is ideally located to the rear of the property and very private. A playground for children is only a matter of a five minute walk away.
One would have to try hard to find fault with the property or the way in which it is managed.
The property has great amenities, very spacious, with an excellent swimming pool. Very deep, which we liked, but may not be suitable for younger children. It is quite isolated (good) but there is quite a bit of noise from the lake during the day. Overall though we had a great stay and would recommend it. Need better instructions to find it as we were 100 yards away and didn’t know, then spent an hour trying to find it! Not signposted from the road.
