  • Fantastic hosts and gite in beautiful countryside offering Quad bike and horse riding
    5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at Saint Moreil gite whilst house hunting in the Limousin area. Tony and Caroline were charming hosts that made our enjoyment their priority. Living in the property next door, but remaining unobtrusive, they were readily available to answer questions and assist us as and when necessary. The gite, which has plenty of character, was perfect for our needs and very well equipped. The welcome basket and bottle of wine was a lovely touch, the latter much enjoyed relaxing in front of the the log burner. Outside the private garden area provided great views and the stars were amazing. The provision of a quad bike and horse riding (included in the price) to explore the beautiful woods, literally on the doorstep, and the miles of available tracks was excellent. The area is beautiful, very quiet and with plenty of wildlife. Lake Vassiviere is a short drive away through quiet wooded roads and was a superb place to visit and enjoy a picnic. We will be returning to further our house hunt and will be using Saint Moreil gite again. A huge thank you to Tony and Caroline for making our stay so memorable.

  • Cosy and practical, great people at the bistro and great location
    4 of 5

The accommodation was clean and on the small side but it had everything you needed for a week holiday. We had breakfast outside most mornings with bread and croissant bought at the bistro. The upper bedroom has a very low ceiling but even my son who is 1.83m tall managed. However, it does get rather stuffy up there when the weather gets hot. The people at the bistro are really nice people. The lake is really beautiful, and although most of the activities are on the other side, it is only 5-10min drive. There is a boat that takes people across but you have to pay for it (it used to be a free service) and only runs at certain time and can only take up to 12 people. It is nice and quiet. The big downside for us was the lack of internet ! Even on holiday we use the internet to watch movies in the evening so it was not just for the kids. Nonetheless, we had a good time.
