The villa is better in real life than the photos depict with a very well equipped kitchen, great wi-fi, it is all so spacious and clean with high end bed linen, towels etc. The outside area is the real star - such a lovely well tended garden with lots of places to sit, relax and enjoy the peace / listen to the birds singing. Also the pool was great and not overlooked. The house is about 2km from Cotignac village full of restaurants (not one bad meal out - all were fabulous and some great value set menus too) and artists shops and the weekly market on a Tuesday is a MUST visit. Loads of vineyards nearby and an hour to the sea although we enjoyed the house and local villages so much we only went to the sea once and up to the lake and gorges once too. To be recommended for family holidays or a romantic trip for a couple as we were - we will return!
Looking for a place to stay in Cotignac that is central, peaceful, well equipped and beautiful? You won't find better than this. Julie and Jean Claude have furnished their home with comfort and style, from the deep feathered sofas to the Jo Malone room infusers, you will feel pampered and relaxed - this really is a place you will fall in love with. There were eight of us in our party - four adults and four children - and there was room enough for all of us.
This was our second trip to Cotignac, a village we discovered last year as it has everything you need for a family holiday - restaurants, bakeries and craft shops within a short stroll, and activities such as kayaking, horse riding, and zip-wiring within a short car journey. Cotignac itself is very pretty, centred around its avenue of plane trees, with bubbling fountains at one end and cafes and restaurants running either side. There's a busy market twice a week selling antiques, crafts and food, and lots of interesting walks up to the caves, the towers, or down to the waterfall.
Thank you Julie and Jean Claude - you have a charming and beautiful home and we feel very lucky to have found somewhere so special to stay. Thank you also for being such perfect hosts when we returned for an impromptu visit! You insisted we stayed for lunch which was very kind of you and we are very grateful for your warm welcome back.
