        Characterful, comfortable, extremely well-equipped

This was our second visit to this cottage - we loved it so much the first time. The owner's daughter, who lives nearby, was extremely helpful both on our arrival and during our visit. The welcome pack was hugely useful, as we arrived quite late in the day. The house was immaculate. Despite being only five minutes away from the motorway, the location is incredibly quiet and rural, tucked in a very rurual little valley. The house is full of character and very spacious. We were joined by some friends and their children this time and, despite the gloomy weather, the house was more than big enough to absorb eight of us. There is a very large kitchen with absolutely EVERYTHING you could possibly need. There are stacks of crockery and glassware - it certainly caters for more than the number of people the house can sleep. The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds are all extremely comfortable, with very high-quality bedlinen, duvets and pillows. The top room feels luxurious and snug with its own bathroom, kitchenette, table and chairs and large L-shaped sofa - a real retreat. It also has lovely views of the countryside. Despite the rural location, the house is within easy distance of many of the ancient and more recent historical and very interesting sites Normandy and Brittany have to offer. Our favourites (so far) are: Fougeres Castle Saint-Malo Le Mont-St-Michel Beaches along the west side of the Cotentin peninsula (such as Carolles - lovely sand and rock pools) The landing beaches Bayeux and finally the small but perfectly formed American cemetary in the local town of Saint-James. The only very slight downside is that the garden is not secure to the road, because of a neighbouring property - not because the owners have left it that way! That said, our six-year-old completely understood not to go near the road and was perfectly safe wondering back and forth to the swing! We would definitely come again and I would whole-heartedly recommend it.
