Make A Holiday Rental Villa in Auriac, France, Your Home Away From Home

The rural village of Auriac can be found twenty minutes drive away from the south coast of France. If you are seeking your own space, peace and tranquillity for your next vacation away, a holiday rental villa in Auriac could be just the thing. Coming fully equipped, well decorated and tastefully furnished, it will feel like a home away from home. One word of advice – because of its location, you may wish to hire a vehicle for the length of your stay if you have not driven your car over.

Things to Do on Holiday in Auriac, France

Whilst you are on holiday in Auriac, you will find that there are numerous activities that you can try and do. Starting with the more sedate, you can take walks and cycle through the countryside. You can also experience the countryside from the back of a horse, and half or full day treks are available. Golfers will be interested in the nearby course, and anglers have a wide choice of waters in which to drop a line. For other water-based activities, head down to the coast, where you can swim, sail, dive and snorkel to your heart’s content.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Auriac, France

Self catering accommodation in Auriac is the perfect base from which to get out and explore the surrounding region. The area is famous for its Cathar castles, and there are many that you can visit or simply drive past after taking a photo. You could then continue along, discovering village after village, each one seemingly more picturesque than the one before. The town of Carcassonne should definitely be visited, being as it is a UNESCO world heritage site due to its well preserved medieval fortifications; and one final suggestion is to take a tour of a vineyard and winery. A great way to sample and taste some of the local vintages!

With warm summers and mild winters, the climate in this part of France encourages many people to take a holiday in Auriac. The very warmest months are July and August, when day time highs can touch over 30 degrees Celsius, but average out at 27 degrees. There is not much rainfall at all during these two months, measuring barely 40mm. The winter months of December and January prove to be the coldest, but even at this time, it is not unusual for the temperature to hit between 10 and 14 degrees. Rainfall is heavier, with most of the year’s 800mm falling between October and February.

You can either fly or drive out to your holiday rental villa in Auriac, each option having its benefits and drawbacks. If you do choose to drive over, then you will need to keep in mind that there is a travel time in excess of ten hours from the port at Calais to your self catering accommodation in Auriac. If you choose to fly, the best airport to land at would be the big one at Toulouse (TLS). There are many flights arriving and departing each day, and of interest if you are coming from the UK would be British Airways flights from out of London Heathrow (LHR).

Excellent getaway from daily grind

4 of 5
Excellent setting, lovely owner. Obviously this isn't 4 star living, but if you expect that, why have you booked to stay in an old gypsy caravan? Lovely bijou caravan and porch very well sheltered so spent most time there eating and drinking outside. The mountain setting is beautiful and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous. If the mountains are a bit damp (we went in October) then the beach is only 1.5 hrs away and the weather will be cracking there. Lots of great places to visit. Would definitely return. Barbara very helpful with suggestions of where to go and what o do and nothing too much trouble for her.
