Wandering through the streets of Aups is hugely relaxing. The town is littered with small, shaded squares lined with ancient fountains and traditional cafes in which to sit and recuperate after a hard morning sightseeing, shopping or hiking. The feudal castle and square watchtower which dominate the Aups skyline are well worth investigating and the Chapelle Notre Dame de la Deliverance cannot fail to charm.

There are some beautiful trails to walk in the Aups area. However, the surrounding countryside is a region of dense farming and walkers must be careful when crossing private farmland and vineyards. Perfect base for exploring the Haut Var

4 of 5
We have visited Aups and the Haut Var many times but this was our first two-week stay in the village. La Cascade is perfectly situated on the edge of Aups, a five minute walk from the restaurants, cafes, shops and the fantastic twice-weekly market where we bought local produce to cook in the huge, well-equipped kitchen. We ate all our meals on the beautiful terrace by the mill stream, shaded by fig trees and grape vines. It was also a great place to relax after a long bike ride exploring the beautiful villages of the Haut Var or the dramatic scenery of the Verdon gorges and the lavender fields of the Valensole plateau. And later in the evening we would sit on the huge terrace in front of the owner's apartment watching the sunset. We loved our time at La Cascade and would definitely stay there again.

Really well kitted out, very comfortable, lovely pool and brilliantly placed for access to all that the Verdon gorge has to offer. The property is close enough to Aups to make walking to town for dinner easy and the supermarket opposite is fantastically handy. We loved staying here, Sandra and Colin really have thought of everything that you might need. Very highly recommended.
