Lovely property in wonderful location

5 of 5
We spent a very enjoyable few days here with children, 8 and 10 yrs, welcomed and well looked after by the super-helpful and friendly owners. The house was clean and bright and well-equipped, the gardens well-tended and full of flowers, and the views across the River Orne just stunning. The location suited us perfectly - about 2 minutes' walk down the adjacent footpath to the riverbank (with cafés, pedalos, rock-climbing, kayaks...) but only about 4 minutes the other way into the centre of Clécy, which is small and charming but also well equipped, with a boulangerie-patisserie, a boucherie-charcuterie, a pharmacy, a small supermarket. little tourist office and one or two cafés, all grouped around a pretty square with a fountain. (Clécy model railway is on the opposite side of the road to the gîte - we didn't visit but worth knowing as it's well signposted which makes it easy to locate the property on first arrival!) Lots of scenic circular walking trails to explore, some around Clécy itself and others further afield in the Suisse Normande area. Be prepared for some surprisingly steep hills! The children loved exploring the quirky house, helping open and close the various shutters - almost as many different designs as there were windows - and playing in the spacious garden behind and below the property, with the various outdoor games that were thoughtfully provided. We were sorry to leave and would love to visit again - can't really give a better recommendation than that!

Easter break

5 of 5
We had an amazing time in this fantastic property! There were 16 of us (3 families) and we couldn't have been made more welcome. Nothing was to much for Jeanette and Andrew! The house was lovely and warm when we arrived with a roaring fire going in the sitting room. Nearly all of the rooms have en-suites which was such a blessing and the heated towel rails were an extra bonus. The grounds are fantastic and the house is well equipped for out door activities: even bicycles were provided! Jeanette and Andrew cooked us all a meal worthy of a top restaurant, and they arranged for a fantastic treasure hunt in the grounds for the 2 children in our group. We wholeheartedly recommend this house to anyone who wants to have a fantastic time in a larger group. The kitchen is well equipped and there is lots to do in the house for those days when the weather isn't as nice as we would like it to be! We are hoping to return next year!
