Stunning

5 of 5
Incredible place, the photos don't do it justice! We arrived late on our motorbike but were still given a friendly, helpful and warm welcome. A perfect place to get away from the crazyness and bustle of England and submerge yourself in the stunning French countryside. Enjoy the roads, the lack of cars, the stunning views, places and the wonderfully friendly French people. We just wished we were there longer! There is no WiFi though and don't expect towels as there were none which was a bit of an issue as we were traveling light on the bike. Highly recommended.

Perfect house in lovely village.

4 of 5
Stock up on lovely cheeses and wine on the way in, then buy fresh bread and croissants locally and indulge your inner bonne mamman with this perfectly equipped house in a lovely traditional village. We did. Lots of woods, fields, traditional architecture, and other villages nearby to explore either on foot, perfect by bike, or by car. There is even a little shop in the village if you run out of wine. Everyone in the village was very friendly. Then evenings in and out the pool, slightly warmed through the greenhouse cover, and eating good french food. Line was very helpful with ideas and information about the locality, and fixed things that went wrong quickly. We managed fine on my limited French and her similar level of English. Children loved the pool, and the nearby fish place, where they could catch their own trout and then play in playgrounds (why haven't we got one like that in the UK?). I rather liked wandering the woods around the arboretum at the back looking for flowers and birds. Husband liked eating well and sleeping in cosy big bed in the big bedroom with birds singing outside. The weather was patchy, it was the week Paris nearly flooded so we did quite well. We would have liked to canoe, but the rivers were very full! We walked in the Ardennes forest instead an easy drive north. Also visited Sedan castle to explore and for grounding in the local history. The smart Bistro on the way in is good value for lunch and stopped serving at 2pm which isn't bad for this area - a lot of places close earlier. Lots of helpful leaflets and similar in the cottage. We bought the IGN map of the area beforehand, at 1cm to 1km its a good scale for driving or cycling. You need a bit more detail for walking which is where the leaflets in the house help. For English visitors: the roads are really easy on the way down there, although its as far as Cornwall it doesn't feel so painful as the roads are not crowded. France and Belgium Schools do not have half terms so a good quiet time to visit. Also if you are picking your way through the website on a budget, do be aware you are charged at the end for electricity and any cleaning as well as sheets and towels if you use them. Also that as there is a largish cash deposit in Euros this will cost you to change back to pounds. It is still pretty good value.
