Lovely stay at this apartment

5 of 5
My wife and I booked the apartment for a week at the end of October as my wife wanted to visit two war graves and the Thiepval memorial on the Somme battlefields and I wanted a break by the seaside. It was a hour and half trip to the apartment from Calais and a hour and a half to the battlefields but compared to the English motorways the French motorways are fast and quiet and we arrived in good time to the apartment on the first night and on other days in good time to get a decent two days visiting the wargraves. The apartment was immaculate with hob - there is no oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and a washing machine in the shower/bathroom. There is a corner media centre in the living area with Satellite TV, a sound system and a DVD player. Not speaking French we didn't use the TV but found lots of DVDs in the unit under the TV we could watch in English to supplement the few we took with us. There is good wifi in the same unit but this has quite a long password so you will have to persevere if you mess it up like we did and don't manage to log in first time. There are bunk beds in the back room if you have kids and two settees one fabric, one leather in the front room. Both settees make into beds and there are blankets and pillows. We had brought our own quilt and pillows and when the fabric bed was made up we found it extremely comfortable and the apartment very quickly became home. You can see the sea from the apartment but it is a couple of minutes drive to the seafront longer if you walk. The beach is sand and gravel and for us as English it was nice to look up at the distinctly French architecture of the houses overlooking the beach. We enjoyed our stay in the apartment very much and are happy to recommend it to anyone.

Pleasant stay near Dieppe

4 of 5
The Aubépines is in a quiet rural location with views over the valley. Cattle in adjacent field and geese and chickens in garden next door. Easy access up newly tarmaced drive with parking at rear of house for one large SUV vehicle. Property in reasonable condition. Ample seating in lounge and dining area. Comfortable double bedroom on ground floor (there was only 2 of us staying) but lacking in wardrobe space. TV via Sky satellite kept dropping out. Only 2 DVDs available for grown-ups. Unfortunately there is no wi-if in the property. The kitchen is fairly well equipped although we missed a dishwasher. Shower was hot with good water pressure. Garden a bit untidy in places especially the back garden which is dominated by an overgrown tree. Location is a very suitable base for exploring Normandy and the Alabaster Coast with some good restaurants nearby. The town of Auffay, a few minutes away by car, has rail station with free parking and good service to Rouen - it also has an interesting Friday market. Our greeting by Nadine, the key holder, was warm and welcoming. The deposit was refunded promptly. We had an enjoyable week in September, with good weather and feel that the house was good value.

Excellent accommodation

5 of 5
Weeks holiday enjoyed by the whole family from 3yrs to 65yrs. Accommodation was excellent, had everything you would require. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Size of garden was everything required for the whole family, ie BBQ, seating and eating areas, pétanque court, washing line and bicycles. Location excellent for beaches and historical excursions. Would happily return for another holiday.
