The village has a number of sites of interest and an authentic Provencal feel, being off the radar of many tourists to the area. The most important landmark in the centre of Ansouis is the fortress, which dates back to the 10th Century. Moderations and re-building work have seen many alternations to the original structure, with work done in the 13th, 15th and 19th Centuries. Inside the fortress is a collection of 17th Century furniture.

With a number of basic shops and other amenities it is easy to pick up a snack or a coffee as you wander around. After getting your bearings and refuelling, a visit to the Musee Extraordinaire is recommended. As the name suggests, the museum houses an eclectic mix of interesting items, which range from local geological artefacts to treasures from sea voyages to far off lands.

Other activities in Ansouis can be arranged to suit. The Sunday morning market is a good place for picking up local produce and souvenirs. Mountain biking can also be easily arranged, allowing you to explore the surrounding area, or you can head off on foot. Those who visit during July will be arriving in the local festival period, with the concerts and exhibitions of Feast Day a particular highlight during this month.

Absolutely wonderful!

5 of 5
We had a fabulous family week in Gaby’s wonderful villa celebrating my Dad’s 75th birthday. The house was spacious (there were 21 of us :10 adults and children aged 2-15) and brilliantly appointed with lots of options for outdoor eating. The garden and pool area were really lovely and there was so much to do to keep everyone occupied and happy ( pétanque pitch, football goals, giant outdoor chess, trampoline, table tennis, bar football). The house itself is lovely and has everything you could possible need. The master bedroom is stunning! We didn’t explore the area as much as we’d planned as it was so hot but the surrounding area is beautiful with the pretty little village of Bonnieux only a 15 minute walk away and beautiful Lourmarin only a 15 minute drive away. Gaby could not have been more helpful or responsive. It was a pleasure to stay in her gorgeous house and we would love to return in future. I would highly recommend.

Beautiful, peaceful & stylish

5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful villa. The apartment was gorgeous, the view from the swimming pool amazing and the grounds were stunning as well as peaceful. Alex and Manu were lovely, helpful but at the same time very discreet and left us to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the location. We were about 2/3kms from Cucuron, a real gem with its plentiful choice restaurants, a market on Saturday and a wonderful Cave (you can't beat the Provencal rose) . In summary we loved the Villa, the grounds, the pool and the local area. I'd recommend it to anyone
