Make a holiday apartment in Aime your home away from home

Aime is a gorgeous town located in the French Alps, not far from both the Italian and Swiss borders. Although the settlement itself is rather small, holiday apartments in Aime have proximity to superb ski resorts, great hiking trails and numerous other attractions and sights, makes for the perfect family holiday destination. If you can picture your family relaxing by the fire after an amazing day out skiing, or enjoying the region’s great outdoor adventure activities in summer, then an Aime holiday apartment is the place for you.

Things to do

As with most alpine townships in France, Aime offers a slew of great attractions. Owing to its fantastic location however, an Aime holiday chalet can also act as a great base, from which you can discover this glorious region of Europe.

-Hiking and biking is a great way to bond with your family whilst on holiday in Aime, with numerous great trails winding through the landscape surrounding your Aime holiday apartment. One of the more challenging hikes in the region however is the trail to the summit of the Alps highest mountain, Mount Blanc, which is situated roughly 80 kilometres away. Whilst you may choose to attempt this rugged trek without a guide, tours are generally the safer option for inexperienced hikers.

-Skiing and snowboarding are extremely popular in Europe’s alpine regions, and the district around your holiday homes in Aime is no exception, with the region’s two fantastic ski resorts boasting roughly 240 different ski slopes. There is also the opportunity for more advanced riders to try the snow park or half pipe; whilst beginners in comparison, may like to take part in the ski school or try their hand at cross country skiing.

-Dog sledding is an activity which is generally a massive hit with children of all ages, in addition to really allowing your family to experience France’s stunning landscape in an absolutely unique fashion. With over five different dog sledding companies within a 20 kilometre radius of your Aime holiday apartment however, you may like to shop around until you find the perfect tour for your family, and don’t forget to pack your camera!

-The Indiana Park located roughly 130 kilometres north of Aime is a great place for both children and adults, with a plethora of activities on offer such as: high ropes courses, climbing, paintballing, paragliding, mountain biking, rafting and golfing; in addition to a number of great cold weather events in winter. Regardless of what activities your family chooses to undertake however, you are guaranteed to have a fantastic time.

-A panoramic helicopter flight over the Aime region is an absolute must, as the area plays host to some of the most beautiful landscape in Europe. Although the price of some of these tours may be a little off-putting, seeing landmarks such as Mount Blanc from the sky makes it worth paying a little extra for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The weather in Aime

Aime commonly experiences warm summers and mild snowy winters, making for the perfect year-round getaway location. Owing to the great selection of winter activities on offer however, the majority of travellers tend to visit during the cooler months, with Christmas being extremely busy. It is consequently recommended that you book your Aime holiday apartment well in advance if you’re planning on visiting the region during this time.

Getting to Aime

Aime can be reached by car, bus, taxi or train from the Chambery airport, which is situated roughly 100 kilometres distant. During the ski season however, the Eurostar “Ski Train” travels from London to Aime-La-Plagne train station, making for an extremely quick, stress free, and often very reasonably priced trip.

Well located comfortable, large apartment within easy walk to main lift

5 of 5
If you want to ski at La Plagne then Montalbert is a good place to stay. It is a more traditional alpine village but has shops, bars, restaurants & ski hire, it is also easy to drive to & has great car parking. One telecabine lift gets you up to the main ski area. La Plagne itself is a very 1970's resort with buildings of the period! This apartment is on the second floor served by a lift with parking right outside. All 3 bedrooms were clean & comfortable & the main kitchen/living room had everything most people would need. There is also a dual aspect balcony with nice views. The block itself is quiet & appears well run. In the evening its just a 2 minute walk to bars & restaurants. I would recommend this apartment. Just one comment, you need to book bedding & towels if you are not taking your own. Apparently the French tend to take their own whereas the Brits don't, especially if they are flying in.
