Make a holiday rental villa or apartment in Opera, Paris your home away from home

The 9th arrondissement of Paris, Opera, is a large region of Paris on the right bank of the river Seine. Centred around the regal Palais Garnier or Opera de Paris, a 2,000 seat, neo-baroque opera house, Opera contains some of the most impressive shopping streets in Paris.

Things to do on holiday in Opera, Paris

Shopping is one of the most highly regarded leisure activities in Opera, Paris. The flagship stores of many main international shops can be found in Opera, including Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. Paris’ most celebrated shopping street, the Boulevard Haussmann is partially in the arrondissement, as is part of the Quartier Pigalle.

As you might imagine from the name, Opera is a very cultural place to take a self catering holiday rental. Aside from the operas, theatrical performances and ballets in the Palais Garnier, Opera is filled with museums and galleries too. The Paris Olympia is the oldest music hall in Paris, and one of the most famous in the whole world, and has been lovingly restored to its former glory since 1997. The Folies Bergere Music Hall is still ding great business, found within the 9th arrondissement. You can also visit the mind blowingly convincing waxworks collections of the Musee Grevin during your stay in 9th arrondissement accommodation.

The nightlife in the 9th arrondissement is great fun, but changes dramatically from one side to the other. If the chic bars of the boulevards don’t tickle your fancy, the musical venues of the very centre of the district may be of more interest, or even the slightly bizarre Pigalle area to the north.

Places to visit on holiday in Opera, Paris

The 9th arrondissement is a magnificent base for exploring the main sights of Paris. Giving you are real sense of Parisian life, the 9th arrondissement is right on the edge of the more famous regions that have graced the front of tourist guides to Paris and France for decades. The attractions of the Champs Elysses, Eiffel Tower, Musee Louvre and Notre-Dame are easily accessible, letting you escape to the relative sanity of Opera after a hard day sightseeing.

Weather in Opera, Paris

There is so much to see, do and enjoy in Opera that there really isn’t a bad time to visit. During the summer months when the restaurants and cafes spill out into the streets and street entertainers draw huge crowds, temperatures average around 25˚C, which is blissfully warm for a city, without making the air too close. In winter, as the crowds head for the shops, temperatures can get very cold, so a thick jacket is advised.

Travel to Opera, Paris

An apartment in Opera is easily reached from the UK. Flights arrive into Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), which is on the Paris metro network, as is the Eurostar terminal of Paris. The largest metro stop in Opera is the Grands Boulevards Station, but the closest stop will depend on the exact location of your holiday rental accommodation.

Fabulous apartment in a fabulous location!

5 of 5
This apartment is in a very secure and well appointed building. The location is perfect for a holiday in Paris whether you want to visit the landmarks or just enjoy being part of the local scene. Or both! Just outside the apartment is a bus stop and there are 4 metro stations within a 2 to 3 minute walk. There are an abundance of excellent restaurants and bistros on the doorstep with the world famous 'Chartier' restaurant in the same street. (You will need to book a table if you don't want to queue but the food and service are worth the wait!) There is also a fabulous bakery here and the fresh pastries are a must for breakfast! If you want supermarkets there are 2 very close by, Monoprix and Franprix which have everything you need. There is also a Marks and Spencer food store a 5 minute walk away. The apartment itself has everything you need and is spotlessly clean. One bedroom has a shower on suite and the other fabulous views of the street. There is also a shared bathroom between the 2 bedrooms. The apartment is bright and airy with a well equipped kitchen. We visited from the 17th to 21st August with our 15 month old Grandson and his Mum and Dad. A cot and high chair was provided for him. Joelle and Livio provided excellent accommodation and invaluable information. I cannot recommend this property highly enough. Enjoy your stay! X
