Make a holiday apartment in Prague 4 your home away from home

Compiled by HomeAway, Prague 4 holiday homes give you the cultural and historical wonders of this beautiful city, but with none of the crowds. That’s because this neighbourhood is down the Vltava River, a short way south of the main tourist sites. Prague 4 apartments still give you all the connectivity of urban accommodation, with Internet access and excellent transport links to the rest of the city. Interiors at apartments in Prague 4 are bright and fitted with the appliances you need for a comfortable, homelike getaway.

Things to do

-Vysehrad. In Prague 4 you’ll be close to a vital piece of Prague’s history. Vysehrad is a fort next to the Vltava River, and has a fantastic view from its battlements. It also features the Rotunda of St Martin, Prague’s oldest surviving structure, from the 1000s. The cemetery is the final resting place of numerous important cultural figures like the composer Antonin Dvorak.

-Old Town. Prague’s UNESCO-listed historical centre is essential. Among the many sights are the Charles Bridge, which was started in the 1300s and is recognised by its towers and decorative sculptures. From the 1400s is the iconic Astronomical Clock, which is still working to this day, on the side of the Old Town Hall tower. Unique to Prague is Jewish heritage, best represented by the gothic 13th Century Old New Synagogue.

-Prague Castle. This huge complex dates back 1,000 years and has a mishmash of architectural styles. Anyone with an interest in central European history will have a great time exploring the many halls, palaces and churches that make up the castle that continues to be a seat of power to this day, as it was for Hapsburg emperors and ancient Bohemian kings. St. Vitus Cathedral is a must-see, for its stained-glass windows and elaborate late-Gothic style.

-Museums. While visiting Prague Castle you can enter some of the city’s most prestigious museums. Two branches of the National Gallery are here – there’s the Baroque and Czech mannerism gallery, and at the Sternberg Palace you can view a tremendous collection of renaissance works, by masters like Vermeer and van Dyck. Elsewhere in Prague seek out museums covering the communist era, Jewish heritage, beer and automotive technology.

-Beer culture. Many connoisseurs will tell you that Czech beer is the best in the world – and they’ve been brewing it in Prague for a millennium now. There are lots of ways to enjoy this beverage – tank pubs let you savour unpasteurised beer, literally straight from the tank. And there’s a whole cuisine that goes arm-in-arm with beer – smoked mackerel, pickled bratwurst, potato pancakes and bread garnished with cold cuts are all classic pub grub.

Weather in Prague 4

If your stay at a holiday home in Prague 4 takes place in the winter then it’s a good idea to be prepared for cool weather. Minus temperatures, and snow flurries from December to March make a scarf and gloves indispensable. Things thaw pretty quickly once April arrives, and by June daily highs are rising well above 20 degrees. Temperatures peak in the mid-20s in July and August, and sometimes reach as high as 30 degrees during heatwaves. Storms and heavy downpours also occur quite frequently during the warmer months.

Travel to Prague 4

Holiday accommodation in Prague 4 is served by Prague Vaclav Havel Airport (PRG). It’s a busy destination, receiving lots of services from cities across the Britain. Regular private shuttles and public buses connect the airport with the city centre. In Prague 4 you can use the tram, Vysehrad metro or Vrsovice railway station for quick, easy links to the Old and New Towns. Another way to reach Prague from abroad is by train, with direct links from cities like Zürich, Berlin and Amsterdam.

Superb

We cannot thank Eva enough for a wonderful stay in the apartment with stunning views over the city of Prague. Eva kindly answered several questions about the flat before we arrived and as we were staying over Christmas she put in decorations and simply went the 'extra mile' to make it homely and welcoming. The flat was clean, very comfortable (the beds were great) and the kitchen well equipped. It must be particularly lovely in the summer, with the big furnished terrace. There is a bus stop on the road and getting into Prague is no problem at all. We had a hire car and was able to leave it safely on the road outside the house. We have no complaints at all, just very happy memories of our Christmas celebrations in the flat. Thank you Eva.

Spacious apartment in good location

5 of 5
We stayed for a week in Ondrej's apartment in September 2017 and found it to be a spacious, no frills, reasonably priced, comfortable apartment. Being regular visitors to Prague, we usually stay in the Old Town but really enjoyed the Castle Vysehrad location which is away from the hustle and bustle yet only a short tram ride or a pleasant stroll away from the Old Town. There's lots to explore in the area and the castle has stunning views, the park is also close by and Ondrej provided lots of information, brochures and maps on this area and others. We would most certainly stay in this apartment again in the future. Thanks Ondrej for helping to make our stay in Prague an enjoyable one.
