The traditional Cypriot village of Kissonerga is about 10 minutes drive north of Paphos. It is ideally located for renting a villa close to the sea and is within easy reach of most shops, supermarkets and amenities. The town has numerous bars, taverns and restaurants which serve reasonably priced local fare. The main street has two coffee shops, a post office, bookshop and a chemist. Paphos has many interesting attractions including old mosaic floors, a beautiful historic harbour, an Archaeological museum, the Byzantine Castle and the Tombs of the Kings. St Paulas Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty are also worth visiting. There is also a beach promenade and the old town of Kato Paphos with its covered market.
This is a cool place for visitors of all ages to spend a day with many lagoon pools, a lazy river, wave pool, shipwreck and the biggest family rafting ride in Europe.
There are a fine collection of snakes, reptiles and lizards at this small amusement park. The kids will love the hands-on experiences here while Snake George tells tales about his reptiles. He is often called out to remove unwanted snakes and lizards from people's homes – a scary thought!
Kissonerga enjoys ten months of sunshine each year giving it a long and pleasant holiday season. During the summer months Cyprus can be hot with temperatures around 33°C (92° F) while the cooler winter months attract walkers, mountain bikers and skiers.
