Thalassa Beach Resort in April

4 of 5
Overall we enjoyed our trip to Northern Cyprus in April, particularly our stress-free stay at the Thalassa Resort. The resort itself is still in development (though we heard no construction noise) as it appears only half of the apartment blocks are finished, but it didn't detract from the holiday. The resort is well equipped with a lovely (though not heated) swimming pool, three new water slides, tennis/basketball courts, crazy golf, games room, and much more, and so there is plenty to keep young children entertained. The café was excellent, really great tasting food and not expensive at all. April is very much the start of the season and we were hit with a few days of bad weather....so that was a shame for us, but even in Spring the temperatures reached up to 25 degrees Celsius, so very nice. There were some people around but it was quiet, which actually suited us. If you like to socialize more then the summer months may be better. Either way, lots to do on site plus the small private beach. There is seaweed (previously mentioned in a review) and a lot of it so it is worth the trip to Bafra beach just up the coast, which is larger and has very nice clear water. The apartment itself was very nice and had everything we needed. It was comfortable and had a nice balcony as well as the rooftop terrace, which provides lovely views across the Med. Our only disappointment with the terrace was the Jacuzzi tub....it is not temperature controlled and so the hot water needs to come from the immersion heater/boiler and only seemed to fill half way before the water went cold. It then took a while for more hot water to heat up and so the practicalities of using it were challenging. Still, the upstairs area is very nice with amazing views. The management company located on site were excellent. They arranged our transfers, car hire and grocery delivery ready for the day before we arrived (really was stress free). They are very friendly and were very quick at fixing a small leak we had under the kitchen sink. The owner was also extremely helpful giving us an excellent welcome pack, and provided us with excellent hints and tips before we left, we really couldn't have expected anything more from the apartment and resort....really excellent. Lots of great places to see in Northern Cyprus, recommend Salamis Ruins, Girne, Famagusta and other places, all within an hours drive. The drive along the northern coast was particularly nice. Overall very happy travelers!

One of the best apartments on complex

5 of 5
We had a lovely holiday at this large well positioned apartment. It has it's own proper sized pool (not a plunge pool) which has sun up till around 2 pm. The decking area is ideally located and it was just like having your own Villa. In addition to the above there is a communal pool which is beautiful and was never busy. It has it's own beach and jetty/pier too, although it is a little rocky. A really nice complex and definitely the best apartment and complex we have stayed on since we have been visiting the north over the last 6 years. The location is a little further away from Famagusta than we normally stay, but if you do prefer beaches it is minutes away from the excellent baffrsa beach too. The owner was lovely to deal with and went out of her way to make sure our stay was fabulous. We will be looking for this apartment first when we visit N Cyprus again in the future.
