Make a holiday villa in Ayia Napa your home away from home

If you’re planning a holiday to a rental villa or apartment in Ayia Napa HomeAway has a large and easy-to-browse range of properties. Ayia Napa is practically synonymous with lively Mediterranean getaways, providing fabulous beaches, lots of activities and bustling nightlife. You could pick a location right at the heart of the action, or choose something a little more remote. Ayia Napa villas provide space for up to eight people, and tend to be detached, affording plenty of privacy. You can choose the guest facilities to make sure your villa or apartment in Ayia Napa has everything you need – in a hot destination like this, pools, air-conditioning or simply gardens can be welcome additions.

Things to do from your apartment in Ayia Napa

-Beaches. Ayia Napa is famed for its pale sandy beaches. Nissi Beach is known for its lively atmosphere in the summer months, and would be ideal for younger holidaymakers. Makranisos tends to be a little quieter, although still a venue for beach parties in July and August. The shallow beaches at Sandy Bay and Grecian Bay are perfect for families.

-Nightlife. Ayia Napa has been known in recent decades for its lively but also easygoing nightlife. Bars here don’t tend to kick into action until almost midnight, and then stay open all the way through to daybreak in summer. There are also more toned-down lounge bars to visit, and plenty of good restaurants.

-Culture. There are a number of interesting historical sites within easy reach of the resort. In Ayia Napa is the 16th Century monastery, which is in a good state of preservation – to the west are the Makronissos Tombs, an ancient burial ground, while the Thalassa museumis devoted to the sea, displaying a range of historic artefacts.

-Watersports. Along Ayia Napa’s waterfront you’ll find numerous places where you’ll be able to rent a variety of watersports equipment, such as jet-skis, motor-boats and pedal boats. Paragliding and water-skiing are also available. There are also businesses here offering guided cruises and tours of the coastline and fishing trips.

-Visitor attractions. The undoubted highlight in Ayia Napa is the WaterWorld Waterpark, the largest attraction of its kind in all of Europe, and is also the only themes water attraction on Cyrpus. It’s open from April to October, and features, rides, flumes, pools and other amusements based on a Hellenistic theme.

Weather in Ayia Napa

On holiday in Ayia Napa you’ll be in a subtropical Mediterranean climate zone, which makes for warm weather for around six months of the year. From April to October daily highs get above 25 degrees, with highs in the 30s for July and August. Rainfall is very rare in the summer months, and occurs mostly between October and March. Winters on Cyprus tend to be mild, bringing highs in the mid-teens in December and January. Even at this time of year there can be occasional warm spells.

Travel to Ayia Napa

Most people travelling to holiday villas in Ayia Napa will use Larnaca International Airport (LCA), which sits around 45 minutes to the west by car. The airport is served by both flag carriers and low-cost airlines from a range of cities and regions in the UK, Europe and recently Russia. You can get to Ayia Napa from the airport by cab, or by catching one of a number of timetabled buses that depart just outside the terminal. If you’re driving a hire car then the A3 connects resorts around Ayia Napa with the city of Larnaca.

Wedding plus vacation

5 of 5
A wonderful villa This is a wonderful, well-maintained and spacious property. I loved the wonderful patio doors that open all along the rear, to give a full view of the pool and garden. The villa is very comfortable, clean and there is plenty of room for six adults. The property comes fully furnished with everything you would need (and more). The garden is lovely and spacious, and the patio area is very large. We had two weeks at this villa, and enjoyed every minute. It is a lovely place to relax with family and friends. We came to Cyprus to celebrate our daughter's wedding, which was held at the Grecian Park Hotel, less than a ten-minute walk away. The amazing Cape Greko and Konnos Bay are also within walking distance. And Protaras and the restaurants, shops, beaches and harbours are just a short distance away (to the end of the strip), and within either a short bus or car journey. There is also a good bus service from outside the Grecian Park which we found useful and which is another big plus. The owners, Edmund and Maro, were very welcoming, and were there to welcome us on our arrival and talk us through everything we needed to know during our stay. Edmund was easy to contact by email when I first enquired about the villa, and promptly answered all of my questions. Brother In law hired an eight-person villa near us at 1,900 euros for one week, yet it was nowhere near as good or as spacious as Edmund and Maro's villa, which feels like a home. I would recommend this wonderful villa to anyone, and I will definitely stay there when I next visit Cyprus. It was well worth every penny, and a great time was had by all.
