  • Absolutely beautiful getaway cottage in the Croatian countryside
    5 of 5

We stayed here for nearly a week and just didn't want to leave - it's such a beautiful place! The cottage is lovingly finished inside and out; and being set off the beaten track in its own olive grove was really something special. The owners - Mirjana & Mladen - were so easy to communicate with and have thought of everything you need for a perfect stay; the cottage quickly became a home from home for us. We really enjoyed having Mirjana & Mladen cook a 3-course meal for us in traditional Croatian style - this was a real treat and absolutely delicious. We also loved all the little touches or things to explore in the olive grove, like the outdoor shower and bath, the vegetable and herb garden, the swings, lounging in the hammocks, or al fresco dining at sunset to the wonderful crickets chorus. Although the cottage feels secluded and far from any neighbours or noise (which we loved), it was very quick and easy to get to local shops, the nearby seaside town of Biograd, as well as the more well-known Zadar. Mirjana & Mladen also gave us some great tips for restaurants in Zadar. In summary, a perfect Croatian countryside paradise.

  • Great location and views. Well equipped apartment.
    4 of 5

It's true. The apartment is just two metres from the sea. A wonderful view across towards the mainland. Well equipped with just about everything you might need it's neatly laid out with a sitting room, kitchen area, bedroom and shower room. The host, Adrijan, is very helpful and knowledgeable about the island, nothing seems too much trouble for him. One day, we were walking up towards the main viewpoint on the top of the island when he pulled up in his car and offered us a lift. Since it was vey hot we accepted and he also then took us on to a ruined village high in the hills which we would never have found otherwise. The village centre is around a 5-10 minute walk away and has several shops and bakeries for anything you may need. The best beach that we found is around a 20 minute walk on the further side of the village. This is a sandy, gently shelving beach which seems to be generally sheltered except when the Bora wind is blowing.
