The Porec area sits on the western coast of the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia. The area dates back almost 2,000 years, but it is only in recent times that the region has been regarded as a popular tourist destination, as people look for viable alternatives to the cities and beaches of Spain and Greece. The variety in the Porec area is immense, with historical towns, sandy beaches, outdoor activities and rural tranquillity just some of the attractions to the area.

The town of Porec is the main destination in the region, and has a historic Roman centre with a number of museums and galleries to be visited. Tennis, water sports, walking and hiking are also popular, with the area having the facilities and scenery to accommodate these activities. Hiring a bike is one of the best ways to explore, and visitors should consider cycling part or all of the 47km long Euphrasiana Trail, which starts from near the hospital in the Porec town centre.

The region has a number of beaches, many of which carry the prestigious EU Blue Flag. Some are rocky, some are stony, but nearly all have good facilities such as bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. The urban beach at Donji Spadici and pebbly Borik Beach are just two of the many options to pursue.

Blissful !

4 of 5
Located in the hamlet of Matulini, the Little House is perfectly situated for enjoying the peace of the Istrian countryside, whilst offering easy access to the coast, tourist attractions and restaurants. Our hosts, Nicky and Phil, have thought of pretty much everything to ensure guests want for nothing during their stay, provided a welcome pack if you hadn't managed to stop off at the supermarket enroute and were always on hand to give tips and advice if needed. The beautiful gardens and the pool were always lovely to come back to at the end of a day's sightseeing in Porec, Rovinj, Novigrad, Vsrar, Motovun or Groznjan. Highly recommended!

Perfect Porec

5 of 5
Just returned from 2 weeks at Gracijela's beautiful apartment in the perfect location in Porec. Everything was wonderful and Gracijela was most helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. The apartment is of a very high standard and beautifully designed by the owner. It occupies the best view over the harbour in the centre of town and is perfectly located for everything Porec has to offer. Thank you Gracijela - we will return again soon.
