Make a holiday home in Orasac your home away from home

Orasac, situated a few kilometres to the northwest of Dubrovnik, is one of Croatia’s hidden touristic gems. This town brings together rich history and amazing natural beauty to provide holidaymakers with a well-rounded excursion. As they lodge in the luxurious holiday homes in Orasac provided by HomeAway, tourists can visit ancient churches and other monuments or hike through the neighbouring villages where they’ll have plenty to see and photograph. The place provides a perfectly tranquil and picturesque getaway for romantic couples as well as plenty of activities for thrill-seekers. The beauty is that as the holiday rentals in Orasac will put them no more than an hour’s drive from the region’s most important attractions and the sea. They will also find such facilities as swimming pools, Internet access and ample parking available in their holiday accommodation.

Things to do

-Monuments: Among the must-visit historical sites in Orasac is the St. Nicholas church which was constructed in 1250. Another is the Arapovo Castle in which the chief magistrate of Florence is believed to have lived in the 16th century.

-Food and drink: Visitors who dream of having their favourite meal in an ambient restaurant that overlooks the sea should try and locate Hawaii; Hawaii the restaurant not the American resort. Many locals head there on weekends to feast on scrumptious, reasonably priced pizza as they gaze idly into the Adriatic as they ease away the stress accumulated during the week. Residents of self-catering holiday homes in Orasac will want to join them.

-Local culture: Visiting the traditional villages that surround Orasac such as Ljubac, Klisevo and Gromaca, is a great experience as holidaymakers will get to rub shoulders with locals and partake of traditional specialities. They will also be able to purchase locally made cheese and wine to take with them to their holiday homes for mealtimes there.

-Nature: Hiking through the villages that lie around Orasac is a rewarding experience as they will come across such wonders as the cave in Gromaca and the grand amphitheatre nestled in the midst of three hills that is home to the village of Ljubac. The rich variety of flora in this region will warm the heart of any nature lover.

-Dubrovnik: Few visitors who book holiday homes in Orasac don’t have a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Dubrovnik on their itineraries. This city is recognised as one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world and as they walk through the narrow stone streets visitors will encounter ancient churches and other buildings that point to various periods in Dubrovnik’s history.

Weather in Orasac

The weather in this locale is comparable to most Mediterranean locations as it is warm for most of the year and the winters are relatively mild. Those planning for a stay in Orasac holiday homes during the summer months of June, July and August should expect temperatures ranging between 25 and 30°C. Rainfall during this time of the year is virtually unheard of. Even in autumn Orasac remains quite warm with October experiencing average highs of 21°C. Winter is characterised by average temperatures in the teens and a bit of rainfall, especially in November and December.

Travel to Orasac

Orasac is 30 or so kilometres away from the Dubrovnik Airport which is Croatia’s second largest such facility. It is also known as Cilipi Airport. It mainly handles seasonal flights from most parts of Europe as well as seasonal charters. Holidaymakers coming from Dublin, Madrid, Helsinki, London and other European cities should be able to get flights on low-cost carriers at their local airports to take them to Dubrovnik. With public transport to Orasac sporadic at best (buses are rare), visitors should plan to hire a car on arrival.

Highly modern and highly artistic

5 of 5
A very unique villa whose every corner makes you wonder and fills you with awe. Every room is its own piece of contemporary art, bathed in luxury and peaceful atmosphere that characterises its very location. All our needs and expectations were met, leaving us extremely satisfied and yearning to come back to this place of bliss. If you don't feel like swimming in the sea (which is, by the way, quite clean and beautiful) there is always both a pool and a jacuzzi. Highly recommended!
