Beautiful, spacious apartment close to old town

5 of 5
Three of my friends and I stayed in Villa Doda (in the ground floor apartment) for four nights in July and had the most wonderful stay. The apartment was so spacious and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed, plus the bonus of being air-conned - a solace from the heat outside! The outside terrace area and garden were lovely to sit out on during the evenings and for breakfast. All communications in the lead up and our welcome from Dobrilla (and Mocha the dog!) on arrival were great. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Dubrovnik. Excellent value for money and a gorgeous little retreat. Thanks for having us Dobrilla! Hope to be back sometime soon! Amy, Niamh, Katy and Fran.

Perfect location

5 of 5
We stayed here a couple of weeks ago for 6 nights. Rebecca and Vido arranged an airport transfer and then met us at the apartment . Only two of us so the apartment was a perfect size. The wifi is very good and the air con works well. All very clean. We loved sitting on the terrace. We didn't use the cooking facilities but washing machine was handy to use. 30 degree wash took about 45 mins. Would have been nice to have an iron. I made the mistake of putting some things in last minute unironed. Hair dryer is a travel one and switches off when it gets hot. No good if you have long thick hair like mine. The walk to the old town gates is a few minutes which is why it is a perfect location. We had to return to the apartment at lunchtime to check into work so was ideal for us. Also an hour in the air con to cool down as it was very hot. The cable car is almost next door. Up the steps and it is front of you. But you wouldn't know it was there as it is electric and silent. A few tips: just before you get to the gates there are a few shops to the left. A small supermarket and an excellent bakery where we bought filled rolls most days. The bakery opposite the cable car is not so good. We ate at Pizzeria Castro ( probably the best Gourmet pizza ever) Dubravka 1836( ok for dinner but excellent breakfast) Gradska Kavana Arsenal ( gets very busy. Book the day before if you want a front table) Azur was recommended by Rebecca. Took awhile to find but was worth it. We were there early and just got a table. Was a Friday night so best to book a table. Madam Pi Pi . Excellent mixed grill. Took 3 attempts to get in. Opens earlier than written on the board outside a and you can't book. We bought the Dubrovnik pass so saw most cultural things and it gets you onto The Walls. We also used the bus ticket and went to Cavtat . A pretty village to spend half a day in. We took the boat back which took an hour. A very slow and lots of fumes journey with all other boats speeding past us! Should have stuck with the bus. Rebecca and Vido are great hosts and on call whenever you need them. We had a lovely week and wouldn't hesitate to stay in this apartment again.
