Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Komarna, Croatia your home away from home

Komarna was originally a small fisherman’s village on the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. The village, although now more of a luxury resort with spectacular views across the cliffs, reefs and islands of the Dalmatian Coastline, isn’t a bustling tourist resort but a picturesque, remote spot from which discerning travellers can enjoy both the glorious Croatian summer and the attractions of the larges cities of Dubrovnik from their own little haven of peace. Local culture and cuisine will always play a large part of your Komarna holiday, and the welcome you receive will be truly heart warming.

Things to do on holiday to Komarna, Croatia

Komarna is a very peaceful village where children can play safely and you can always guarantee a smile from the locals. Every self catering Komarna villa affords visitors a beautiful view and easy access to the quaint little pebble beaches which line the coast. Snorkelling, particularly towards the northern end of the beach is great fun, especially if you manage to find the hidden caves which were created to house submarines during the war. Although derelict, the caves are well hidden, and the hunt provides endless hours of exciting entertainment! You can rent boats from a holiday rental in Komarna with ease, allowing you to pack up a picnic and head along the coast to find your own personal beach for the day.

The hills and mountains that surround Komarna are perfect for both walking and mountain biking holidays. There are a huge range of paths which dissect the countryside, clearly marked and taking you to some of the most picturesque and interesting spots along the Dalmatian Coast. Walking or cycling to the Kravica Waterfalls is relatively easy from a Komarna villa, and when you get there, you will be in no doubt the journey was worth it. The crystal clear waters are ideal for a refreshing swim, and you can climb the rocks and dive into the pool, fish or simple absorb the scenery.

If you would prefer a little more adventure, the Neretva River provides plenty of adventure. There are weekly white water rafting trips along the upper reaches, arranged from Mostar, and you can easily rent a kayak or canoe to gently float down the more gentle reaches of the river, giving an unprecedented view of the Croatian countryside.

Places to visit on holiday to Komarna, Croatia

Dubrovnik is well worth exploring from a Komarna apartment. The city has a staggeringly ancient atmosphere, helped by the wealth of 13th century buildings that still make up the centre. There are stunning views in every direction, with more attractions than you could see in a single holiday. The café culture in Dubrovnik is blissfully relaxing, and if you have a few hours before your flight home, it is defiantly worth nipping into Dubrovnik for a coffee to watch the world drift by.

Weather in Komarna, Croatia

There is a wonderfully mild climate along the Dalmatian Coast. During the summer months, daily temperatures soar to around 34˚C on the majority of days from June until the end of August. Water temperatures remain easily warm enough to swim in for many months throughout the summer, certainly warm enough from May until November. Even in winter, temperatures average over 10˚C monthly.

Travel to Komarna, Croatia

The proximity of Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) to a Komarna property rental makes Komarna holidays really easy from the UK. ThomsonFly and British Airways both provide regular flights from Manchester (MAN) and London, and upon your arrival at Dubrovnik, it is recommended that you take a hire car in order to really get the most out of your Komarna holiday.

Beautiful location, very welcoming hosts

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We stayed for five days at the end of July. Our hosts Mile and Jasminka were lovely and welcoming. There was food in the fridge when we arrived and they even brought us some fresh fruit on the beach the next day. The apartment has a balcony overlooking the sea, and it’s just a few steps down to the beach. It’s also kitted out with loungers, parasols and lilos. We had no problem with the pebble beach and the water is crystal clear and calm. The Komarna resort itself is small but has everything you need – café bars, a restaurant, well-stocked shop. If you want a relaxed few days there’s no need to venture far. We hired a car from Dubrovnik airport. There’s a coast road from the airport right to Komarna so it’s a simple 1.5 hour drive. Don’t forget to keep your passports handy as you drive through Bosnia about 20 mins before you get to the apartment and you have to stop at both borders. Mile and Jasminka recommended some lovely places to eat. Highlights included taking a boat across the water to a beautiful secluded restaurant overlooking the bay, and also some delicious home-cooked seafood that we ate on the balcony of a local lady’s house (she also serves food to your apartment if you prefer). If you’re thinking of booking this place then do it. You will not be disappointed.

The best stay we have ever had, Mara and Milan, are the most amazing people ever, honestly they are the best hosts, and we have stayed in many apartments and homestays all around the world. We were made to feel like part of a family, the boys (7&8) loved it, Mara and Milan again so warming and caring The apartment is so beautiful, perfect in fact, it has everything you need and more, the pool just adds more to the stay. we all didn't want to leave, perfect views from the apartment, beautiful beaches all around and in walking distance, amazing food in Komarna, I can't wait to head back.
