Make a holiday apartment in Kolocep your home away from home

Known by locals as Kalamota, Kolocep is one of the Elaphite Islands that are inhabited. These islands are just off Dubrovnik on Croatia’s Adriatic Sea coastline. This island’s shoreline is bordered by clear turquoise waters and is replete with interesting geological features including caves. The Mediterranean climate is perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activity. Being close to the touristy city of Dubrovnik, tourists staying in Kolocep holiday homes have a tour of Dubrovnik in their itineraries. Here they will have the chance to visit many historical sites and immerse themselves in local culture. It is also here that visitors will get the supplies they need for their Kolocep holiday rentals. These holiday homes are fitted with air-conditioning and other facilities to ensure holidaymakers of supreme comfort.

Things to do

-Monuments: There are seven medieval churches on this island which residents of holiday apartments in Kolocep will be able to reach easily. These religious monuments were constructed during the times of the Croatian kings between the 9th and 11th centuries. The remains of several European conquerors have been found in Kolocep representing the ancient empires of Greece, Rome and Napoleon.

-Beach: Kolocep has a magnificent coastline dotted with hidden coves, one of which leads to a cave which one has to swim into. It is known as the Blue Cave. The stretches of sand that define the island’s beaches are ideal for both lounging and leisurely promenades. Visitors can join locals in swimming in the waters next to the beach.

-Hiking: There are trails that lead visitors through Kolocep’s abundant flora which consists mainly of pine and olive groves. Walking or cycling is actually the only way to get around in Kolocep as the place is a traffic-free area. This is not a tall order as the island in only 2.5km long. There are a few hills and so the terrain is quite challenging.

-Water sports: Among other activities available to holidaymakers enjoying the quiet and comfort of holiday apartments in Kolocep are kayaking and sailing in the waters of the Adriatic. Tourists can hire boats to take them on rides to the other Elaphite Islands or to Dubrovnik which is just 20 minutes away.

-Dubrovnik: Dubrovnik is one of Croatia’s most sought after tourist destinations and considering its rich history evidenced by a wealth of monuments and museums as well as the many cultural activities hosted here, one can understand why. The city also boasts lovely beaches, some sandy, some pebbly, from which visitors can enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean sun.

Weather in Kolocep

The moderate Mediterranean climate Kolocep enjoys is one of the reasons tourists seek holiday accommodation here. Most visitors arrange to arrive at their holiday homes just as spring is giving way to summer; between May and June, so as to avoid the mid-summer temperatures which can sometimes be intense. At this time of year temperatures range between 21 and 25°C. Temperatures inevitable rise as August approaches, reaching average highs of 29°C. Rainfall during this period is extremely rare. It is only as winter arrives in November that precipitation levels above 100mm are recorded.

A charming croatian apartment with stunning views of old town, Lokrum and the amazing sunsets

5 of 5
Our group (4 adults and 2 children) visited Dubrovnik at the end of October 2017 and had a fabulous stay in this lovely spacious apartment overlooking the old town with stunning views of Lokrum and the amazing sunsets each evening. The apartment is fully equipped with ample space for all of us (and possibly more), 2 bathrooms, 2 living spaces and a full kitchen diner. To add to this, the outdoor space; an amazing terrace, allowed us to enjoy our stay immensely. The apartment is situated up the hill a short walk down to the old town, port and the beach. The walk back up is far more arduous but well worth it! Rebecca and her husband are fantastic hosts ensuring we had everything we needed and arranging transfers to and from the airport for us. Its a short walk to the nearest supermarket and the cable car station. Overall, a great place to stay within easy distance of Dubrovnik old town and all its attractions. Thank you!

Incredible apartment in the perfect location for Dubrovnik Old Town

5 of 5
I don't normally write reviews but am compelled to write and share just how good this property was for our recent stay in Dubrovnik. From the initial booking through to getting the deposit back the communication and overall process and experience has been faultless! Big thank you to Chris and Goga for making our stay a) possible b) so positive. I wont gush too much and will just stick to the facts. As a family of 4 ( 2 children aged 9 and 10) we like to visit cultural cities for the October half term break and Dubrovnik at this time of the year seemed like a good choice. The weather was fantastic 19-20c which made exploring possible and swimming just about bearable and whilst busy with tourists ( tour groups and cruise ship day visitors) it wasn't as crowded as we have heard it can get. The apartment was spotlessly clean and very spacious in both the bedrooms and living spaces. The well equipt kitchen was a godsend too as eating out for 4 was rather expensive so we tended to have breakfast and lunch in the apartment (something I never thought we would do but actually really enjoyed). All this was made possible due to the incredible location of the apartment... shops and bakeries are close by to buy provisions, the beach is a few steps away and the old town less than 5 minutes stroll away!! So much to do for the children, Lokrum, cable car, city walls tour as well as going 'off piste' and discovering deserted beaches with lots of rock climbing... perfect!! I will be recommending to everyone we know!!
