Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Hvar, Croatia your home away from home

Hvar is the ultimate Dalmatian Island. Blanketed by thick, Mediterranean vegetation and blessed with a wonderfully mild climate, Hvar villas have been among the most popular holiday destinations with discerning travellers for centuries. Considered among the 10 most beautiful islands in the world, Hvar remains beautifully natural, attracting painters, nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts in droves every year, who flock to apartments in Hvar, Croatia to enjoy the close links between man and nature and the charmingly traditional way of life which is still enjoyed on the island.

There is a huge amount to see and do from an apartment in Hvar. The coastline is stunning. The pebble beaches that surround the island mainly consist of small, crescent shaped bays, surrounded by thick pine woodland, which shelter visitors from the frequent winds that make Hvar a kite surfing haven. One of the most enjoyable ways to explore from Hvar villas is to take the slow route through the island, travelling under your own steam. Cycling through Hvar is a hugely popular way to explore, taking in the sights and smells, especially the rich fragrance of lavender which covers the island. There are a huge range of cycle paths throughout the meadows, country roads and forest tracks of Hvar, details of which are readily available from the Hvar Tourist Information offices.

Places to visit on holiday to Hvar, Croatia

Hvar Town paintings cannot do the town justice. The ancient town is stunning, located on a sheltered harbour. The ancient monuments which make up the town appear at every turn, and although St Stephens Cathedral, the Theatre of Hvar and Groda Palace are the best known attractions in Hvar town, it is almost impossible to set any monuments apart from the rest of the town, such is the ancient beauty. There is plenty of walking from Hvar town, both into the unspoilt woodland and along the coved coastline that surround the town, and by night, the bars and restaurants of Hvar attract people from across the island.

Other Dalmation Islands are within range of a fantastic day trip from a Hvar villa too. Boats can be arranged heading for the islands of Brac, Ciovo and Korcula among others.

Perfect home for perfect holiday

5 of 5
We have had a month in Croatia and stayed 1 week in Jelsa, this was by far our favourite accomodation.Everything has been thought of, all the local info about the area, its great to have all the condiments for cooking, as well as the nightlights when your in unfamiliar surroundings. Our kids had been backpacking for weeks so enjoyed having some space downstairs to call their own. We would stroll down to get our morning pastries and then spent a lot of time on the balcony soaking up the surroundings and enjoying the clear skies and warm weather. We loved getting our fresh vegetables and figs from a small doorway just down the road, the fresh figs yum. We did the coastal walk to Vrboska (it is 5km) with lots of beautiful areas to stop and swim along the way. This is a beautiful village that has an amazing Wine Festival the last weekend of August, which we were lucky enough to arrive in the midst of, Saturday evening. The street food was incredible, water polo games, music and finished with an amazing fire works display. We would definitely recommend staying here to our friends and hope we can return one day.

Spacious apartment with amazing views

5 of 5
I love this place. It's not in the middle of the old town, but is a short walk away, which to me is perfect. Here, you can wander down to the beach, take a nice stroll to town, or hang out on one of the patios with a view and day dream for a bit. The walk up to the fortress is well worth it. Take a small boat over to the small island (in view of the apartment) - boat is no charge, and then you can have your own private beach/swimming on the island which also has a restaurant with amazing food and views of Hvar. Kod Kapitan is a wonderful restaurant in town - plus view of promenade and boats. The bar on top of the Adriatic hotel is also a great spot for a drink and views all around.
