Biograd dates back to the 10th century with many documents describing the rulers, monasteries and castles which once stood here. The City Museum has some very interesting local exhibits. Within the city walls are many churches including the remains of St John’s Monastery, St Anastasia’s Church and the 19th century churches of St Roko and St Antonija.

Biograd Na Moru is surrounded by five national parks which offer the ideal opportunity for scenic drives and exploring the inland area of Croatia. There are three National Parks: Paklenica, Kornati and Krka and two Nature Parks: Telascica and Lake Vransko.

Kornati National Park
This national park covers 140 islands and reefs and is enchanting with its white rocky coastline and deep blue waters. It is easy to take a boat trip to the archipelago from your Biograd holiday rental and enjoy a day on the islands.
This lovely historic city is well worth visiting, just 90 minutes drive down the coast. The historic centre is within the walls of the Roman palace, built for the Emperor Diocletian and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. St Duje’s Cathedral dates back to 305AD. For a more modern side to the city, visit the palm-lined Riva city promenade.
The nearby city of Zadar is built around the remains of a Roman Forum and has a rich cultural heritage. Zadar has some lovely local churches such as the Church of St Donat, numerous inns, beautiful beaches and some unique historic monuments to explore. The town is famous for its “sea organ” as when the waves hit underwater caverns it makes deep musical sounds.
