Make a holiday rental, home, or villa in the Caribbean your home away from home

Caribbean, West Indies

Caribbean holidays promote images of transparent waters, white powdery sand, exotic birds and cocktails. This is of course true, but considering the 7,000 islands and reefs which make up the Caribbean, it is hard to make a rule to cover all Caribbean villas. No two Caribbean holidays are the same. Some are rugged, mountainous volcanic islands, and others are flat and sandy; the diverse landscapes from cloud forests to cactus scrublands mean the Caribbean is an international conservation biodiversity hotspot.

Places to Holiday in the Caribbean

Looking for Caribbean property, resort or rental villa requires choosing an island first! Of the 7,000 islands, many stand out, and all for different reasons:

Antigua – has a tremendous number of soft powder beaches, and with an almost unbroken coral reef around it, the beaches are fantastic places to snorkel. Antigua is also the home of one of the region’s most important bird sanctuaries. The world famous Antigua Sailing Week is at the end of April

Bahamas – 700 islands, including Nassau, Long Island, Cat Island, Bimini to mention a few, and plenty of Caribbean villas to choose from. Each island in the Bahamas is unique, but they all share the clearest water in the world, with 200 feet of visibility.

Barbados – A flat coral island, with incredible geological structures, and a depth of art, music and culture. The north of the island boasts fantastic surfing, deep sea fishing and swimming with turtles, which is very popular.

Dominican Republic – Mountainous and covered in rainforests, the Dominican Republic offers excellent hiking, and the rivers, waterfalls and saltwater lakes mean that there are a wealth of creatures to be marveled at!

Jamaica – Rich in culture, the home of reggae, Jamaica, the Caribbean’s 3rd largest island caters for everyone. If you like lying on a beach, partying, diving, or the three R’s (reggae, reefs and rum), then a holiday villa in Jamaica is perfect for you. Not to be missed is the Blue Lagoon.

Trinidad & Tobago – Trinidad, the livelier of the two islands, and Tobago, with its selection of white or pink beaches come alive with the Carnival, two days of colour and calypso music.

Things to do in the Caribbean

With such diversity, there are hundreds of activities in the Caribbean. There is massive scope for scuba diving, sailing, swimming, sunbathing, deep sea fishing, hiking, snorkeling, tennis, cricket, kayaking and of course, relaxing in a Caribbean villa!

Caribbean Weather

Temperatures are between 20°C and 30°C all year round. The trade winds are fairly constant, and therefore keep the climate refreshing and warm all year, meaning that there is never a bad time to take a last minute rental villa on a Caribbean holiday.

Travel to the Caribbean

Cheap flights to the Caribbean depend on your destination, but flights are available to many Caribbean airports from many international airports in the UK, and there are regularly cheap flights available for last minute holidays.

My family and I stayed at Crown Ridge the week before Christmas. When we walked in the door, I knew we had made the right choice of lodging. The fully equipped kitchen was up-to-date modern, with nice china and glassware. Comfy couch, RV, and table and chairs. The bedrooms were lovely, with simple handsome furniture, clean white high-quality sheets and bedding and towels were a real bonus. The master bedroom and bath suite were elegant, with double doors leading to a private patio area. The pool was a nice place to rinse off after swimming in the sea. The lounge chairs were sturdy with mats for comfort. The periwinkle blue stairs led to the beach with easy shore access to wonderful snorkeling and scuba diving. We were in the water 2-3 times per day and watched the sun set and the stars come up. It was the best vacation ever and we love Bonaire and will definitely return--and Crown Ridge.

                                                              Fabulous!

                                                              5 of 5
This is one of those apartments within a resort where the reality is actually even better than what is promised. The unit is beautifully appointed with lots of attention to detail and full of little extras such as Dvd's (for adults and kids), loads of games, tennis rackets (and balls!), even a cooler to take to the beach. The layout - with the reception rooms in the centre - means the bedrooms (plus separate bathroom for each, both well sized) feel like they are in separate wings, so there is lots of privacy, even though you are close. We have two children and it was perfect for them, although we would have enjoyed it just as much as a couple. The resort is fabulous, two lovely pools plus Sassafras restaurant which serves great food. Coral Sands is the perfect base to explore Barbados, especially the west coast. Our entire experience from start to finish was a real pleasure and I really cannot recommend this place enough. The owner is a delight and really helpful. Barbados is a wonderful island with so much to offer compared to it's smaller neighbours. The sea is truly turquoise and the sand white. Try the local rum punch, coconut water fresh from the coconut (sold alongside the road), flying fish and any locally caught fresh fish, its delicious. There are boat trips to snorkle and swim with turtles or dive on wrecks; surfing on the east coast or calm caribbean waters on the south/west coasts. Travel to the south coast and lunch or dine at Champers or travel north to the Fishpot and host Manny will take great care of you. All in all, the best place ever for a holiday!
