Make a holiday villa in Tacoronte your home away from home

Holiday homes in Tacoronte are set in a part of Tenerife that offers an authentic slice of the island’s exciting nature and culture. The local beaches are natural and volcanic, the landscape is chequered with vineyards and there are fabulous historic towns to seek out and explore. If availability here is limited then Santa Ursula holiday homes are in a location with similar appeal.

Upmarket in character and located away from noisy resorts, holiday villas in Tacoronte are for guests who value peace, privacy and relaxation. Ideal for families, every rental here benefits from a private garden, just perfect for barbecues in the evenings. There are pools to enjoy as well, while interiors cater to the most demanding visitor, with new appliances and useful features like wi-fi.

Things to do

-Beaches: On this stretch of the Tenerife coast visitors can admire natural volcanic beaches with black sands. There are five to choose from in the immediate vicinity alone, one of the best being La Arena, which is a picturesque bay with moderate waves protected by a breakwater and rocky outcrop. One of Tenerife’s most striking black beaches is the remote El Bollullo just a little further along the coast and accessible via a walking path.

-Local sights: Next door to Tacoronte is San Cristóbal de la Laguna, which was once the capital of Tenerife. This town, established in the late-1400s, is well worth visiting for its charming old churches and array of handsome private and public buildings. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because its street plan would be replicated at cities across the New World in the centuries that followed.

-Outdoor activities: Golfers will be in their element at the Real Club de Golf de Tenerife, a prestigious course established back in 1932. One of the many joys of this course is the landscape, which is dotted with mature trees and sits at a height of 700 metres. In the other direction is the immensely scenic Orotava Valley, perfect for walks and bike rides. There are vineyards, banana plantations, as well as exciting landforms like precipitous ravines. Northeast is the majestic beauty of the Anaga mountain range, home to juniper forests and the oldest landforms on Tenerife. For accommodation here, take a look at our range of holiday rentals in Tegueste.

-Natural monuments: For many guests, no visit to Tenerife would be complete without an adventure in the El Teide National Park. The centrepiece of this park is of course the towering stratovolcano, the peak of which is the highest point in all of Spain, at 3,718 metres above sea level. It doesn’t take a mountaineer to scale it either, as there’s a cable car running from the base almost to the top. The journey is unforgettable, with incredible views of the volcanic landscapes for which Tenerife is famous.

-Day trips: From Tacoronte the entirety of Tenerife’s northern coast is within reach. This is a low-key and rural part of the island, known for its historic towns like Icod de los Vinos and Garachico, as well as its rich natural beauty. There’s also something for families here too, as at Puerto de la Cruz is the Loro Parque zoo. This started out as a birdlife attraction, but has expanded to include species from across the globe, including jaguars and lions.

Weather in Tacoronte

Tenerife is often labelled the Island of Eternal Spring, which is down to the consistently pleasant weather here. On the windward side of the north coast the climate is damper than the famous resorts to the south, but temperatures remain very mild in winter and agreeably warm in summer. From November to April there are daily highs between 17 and 21?C and occasional rain. The remainder of the year sees temperatures that reach between 22 and 27?C, with almost no rainfall to be had in July and August, the most popular time to come to a Tacoronte holiday villa.

Travel to Tacoronte

Guests heading on to Tacoronte holiday homes from elsewhere in Spain will be able to use Tenerife North Airport (TFN), which is effortlessly close, located just a few minutes from this holiday location. Holidaymakers from the UK have a slightly longer journey, using Tenerife South (TFS), which is just over 70 kilometres away, on the other side of the island. This makes it a good idea to hire a car for a holiday in Tacoronte. The drive is trouble-free though, and won’t take more than an hour as the TF-1 highway covers most of the route.

Highest quality relaxation !

5 of 5
Ramiro's villa is even better than it looks on Homeaway. It is immaculately fitted out with everything you could want and was spotless. Elisa met us and gave us a thorough tour, was very welcoming and lives locally should you need her. We had a very relaxing time, spending most of it either sunbathing, swimming or under the veranda (useful when it gets really hot). The automatic pool cover was excellent, easy to use and it really boosted the pool temperature, it was like a bath at 21:00 on the evening we arrived !. The villa is about 10 minutes from Tacorante where there are several supermarkets to buy food, 30 minutes from Puerto Cruz and Santa Cruz and 1hr 10min from Siam Park. Overall one of the best places (of many) that we have rented from Homeaway.

Authentic spacious Spanish house

5 of 5
If you want an away from it all holiday and no English bars in sight, then this is the place for you. The owner, Eduardo, met us at the property and showed us around the house and garden with pride and was only a phone call away should we have needed him. The house is situated in secure, gated grounds and contains everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and feel like home from home. It was relaxing to sit in the private, perfectly manicured garden, which houses a chicken coop ( fresh eggs daily), fish and turtle ponds and (not forgetting, Eduardo 😀), a bonsai section. The property is well situated to explore the North, but a car is a must. Take trip to Anaga Forrest and the Mercedes Mountains. Make sure you take your walking boots with you. There are many small coastal villages, which when found, offer excellent cuisine. Santa Cruz and Puerto del Cruz are also within driving distance should you want something more lively. This is our first visit to the North of the island and it certainly will not be our last. We cannot thank Eduardo enough for making it that extra special and feel that we have made a great friend. Gracias Eduardo Paul and Dawn
