We spent two great weeks at Finca Oscar Burchard. When we arrived quite late in the evening, the owner Fabio made us a very nice welcome at our meeting point (one of the family´s restaurants, which is by the way very recommandable!!). He showed us around the garden and went picking beans and salat with our two kids (3 and 6 years old), who therefore had a crush on Fabio immediately. As Fabio lived in Devon and London for a long time, he speaks perfect british english, so communication was not a problem at all. After the friendly welcome we drove all together to the finca, a nice and clean property inside a huge estate with a lush garden and wineyard. We were allowed to pick all the fruits and vegetables for free, which was a lot of fun - again for the kids, who loved their everyday task. The house is a perfect space for a family with two kids. No wishes left when cooking in the very well equipped kitchen with an astounding good view at the Teide. The pool (our very own pool!) was quite cold, but refreshing after coming home from our various activities over the island. The area around La orotava is beautiful and has much to offer, if you like good food, stormy beaches, nices hikes and friendly people. We felt very much at home and decided to definitely come back some day to meet fabio and his family again (especially "la abuela"!). So long all the best for you! PS: We have to commit due to former ratings, that the dogs on Tenerife really have a huge intention to bark. Day and night. But after two day we got used to it and it didn´t bother us at all.

This apartment gave us everything we could have asked for. It's in the great location of Punta Brava - about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. For the physically challenged - the apartment is at the top of a hill where there are beautiful views. A couple of evenings we weren't up to the climb back, after we had been walking all day in the mountains, so we just parked our car at the bottom and drove back after our evening out - it's literally 2-3 minutes drive back up to park in the underground garage that is provided - or you can take a taxi for around 3 - 4 Euros from both Punta Brava and Puerto de la Cruz. When we first arrived and had a walk around Punta Brava we weren't sure it was the sort of place we would want to eat / drink etc. as it is not a tourist "hot spot", more a lovely local village - but how wrong we were - going to the bars and drinking with the locals was great entertainment - and there are some fantastic restaurants - our favourite was Rincon Del Mar - very quirky decor and the owner couldn't do enough - go for the paella or the house special a sort of fish stew - you won't be disappointed! The apartment was spotlessly clean and so well equipped - probably one of the best we have ever rented. As well as the kitchen equipment, all the day to day essentials needed for the full 2 week stay, washing up liquid, cleaning products, toilet rolls, etc were provided. Lots of good quality towels for bathroom and pool/beach. Spare bedding etc and on arrival a carton of milk and bottled water so that we could make a cup of tea without having to find the local shops. The shopping experience is always part of our holiday - buying locally grown and produced goods. The Lidl supermarket is less than 5 minutes by car and can provide just about everything - but don't forget the small local supermarkets that sell freshly made bread etc. The heated pool is beautiful and also kept spotlessly clean – sunbeds are provided. It was great to relax there after a long day walking and listen to the seals, parrots and occasionally the chimpanzees in Lora Parque which is just down the road. Highly recommended for a base to explore the beautiful North Tenerife.
