Make a holiday apartment in Santa Cruz your home away from home

Set in Tenerife’s capital, holiday homes in Santa Cruz are ideal for people who want to combine the culture and sightseeing of a city getaway with the relaxation of a beach holiday. The natural scenery all around Tenerife is breathtaking, and in this corner of the island guests can make for the Aranaga Mountain range for walking trips or head to the north coast to visit wild Atlantic beaches.

As befits urban accommodation holiday apartments in Santa Cruz are appointed with the appliances and connectivity to make a self-catering holiday as convenient as possible. These spacious and modern rentals will suit families and are located close to the sea. Guests can share holiday snaps via wi-fi access, or, when it’s time to take it easy, take advantage of the home entertainment provided.

Things to do

-Beaches: Santa Cruz is next to one of the best beaches on the entire island. Palm-lined Playa de las Teresitas is a golden sandy bay next to the rugged hills of the Anaga Range. The ocean here is calm and almost perfectly clear, which makes it the perfect spot for a family beach trip. The facilities are great too, and there’s always something going on, be it volleyball matches or yoga classes.

-Sightseeing: A few minutes inland from Santa Cruz is the beautiful renaissance city of San Cristóbal de la Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with lots of neatly preserved buildings from the 16th century, and a city layout that would be replicated at countless colonial settlements in the Americas. HomeAway has a selection of holiday rentals in this city. Santa Cruz also has a number of modern landmarks, like the spectacular opera house, the Torres de Santa Cruz skyscrapers and the bustling Plaza de España.

-Nature: Tenerife is famed for its volcanic landscapes, and nowhere are they more dramatic than in the El Teide National Park, home to the eponymous stratovolcano, which at 3,718 metres is the tallest peak in all of Spain. Closer to Santa Cruz is the Aranaga Range, which takes up all of the northeast coast. Here there are mountains 1,000 metres in height and precipitous ravines to explore.

-Days out: With a car no part of Tenerife’s coastline is off limits. Guests could make their way down to the east coast to visit the modern beach resorts at Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas. For a totally different experience, visit the north, which is loved for its picturesque old towns like Garachico and La Olavata, as well as the rural character of its landscapes that are home to vineyards, and banana and avocado plantations.

-Carnival: Tenerife’s carnival is held here in February every year. It’s one of the world’s largest street parties and only behind Rio de Janeiro’s carnival in terms of size and renown. It’s a glitzy, week-long flurry of parades, traditional music performances, historic cultural rituals like the Burial of the Sardine and contests to pick the best performers.

Weather in Santa Cruz

Set on the eastern side of northern Tenerife, Santa Cruz benefits from the subtropical-semi-arid climate shared by the southern portions of the island. Whenever guests arrive at a Santa Cruz apartment there should be springlike conditions outside. Temperatures peak in the low or mid-20s throughout the year, with only a small difference between summer and winter weather. From November to March the weather is a little cooler and a little damper, with highs of 21?C. Summers get maximum temperatures of 27?C here.

Travel to Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz is served by Tenerife North Airport (TFN). This is the main way onto the island for guests arriving from mainland Spain or France. Holidaymakers coming to a Santa Cruz apartment from the UK will use Tenerife South (TFS), which has a wealth of connections to cities across the country via charter and low-cost carriers. It’s an advantage to have use of a car here, as the airport is about 40 minutes by road from Santa Cruz. The drive is an easy one though, following the TF-1 for the entirety.

The location was perfect.

This property was perfect for our family holiday. 2 adults and 2 children.. The apartment was super clean with everything that you would need even down to a little sandwich maker. The owner Valentino was brilliant with directions etc. There is a shop downstairs with everything that you would need when you arrive. there are lifts in the apartment complex. Press P and you will go straight down and come out at the pool/shop and main beach area. This area will be closed off around midnight when they pull down the shutters not sure if they do this all of the time but if they do then just walk around to the main reception door and use your key to get in. The internet in the apartment was perfect and there are plenty of channels to watch.. If you are looking for extra pillows etc Just pull up the bed in the main bedroom as it is on a hinge.. We shopped at Iceland which was great if you want some British food and is about a 10 minute walk if you are walking along the beach front.. Just come out of the apartment complex turn left. keep walking and turn left at the Costamar apartments. go up the hill and go around the front entrance of the Costamar, Iceland is on the left.. In the apartment complex there is a big waiting lounge area next to the reception with lots of comfy seats and settees where you can relax and read. We waited here after we checked out as we had an evening flight.. Overall it was a perfect holiday. Lovely apartment. Nice and quiet. Central to the resort and the pool area is now finished and looks lovely. We will certainly be back...

Perfect place for our regular Tenerife holiday!

5 of 5
We have just returned from an amazing 2 week stay here! Couldn't have asked for anything better - Apartment was gorgeous, spotlessly clean, in a beautiful complex. Everything we needed was catered for, including things for our little girl - even toys for her to take to the pool! We were so well looked after from the start of the booking through to our visit. We usually stay in the Fanabe area but decided on a change with Playa Paraiso and have thoroughly enjoyed it there: quiet with some good restaurants close by. We weren't expecting the pool bar either which we loved - so well priced with great food and drink. We didn't want to leave to make the journey back home and wil certainly miss waking up to the sea views from both balconies at the apartment. Plenty of space, a really stunning location and owners who really care and looked after us well. Hopefully we will make it back soon!
