Make a holiday rental apartment or luxury villa in North Tenerife, Canary Islands your home away from home

Tenerife holidays in North Tenerife is a haven of peace and beauty, far from the usual tourist haunts that captivate the majority of tourists to Tenerife. Traditional lifestyles and agriculture are still very important in the North, and it is here that you will find the most secluded, peaceful and picturesque parts of the island.

Things to do in North Tenerife

The national parks of North Tenerife are a real marvel. Filled with exotic flora and fauna, parks including the National Park of Las Canadas, Icod de los Vinos and the Masca National Park, are well worth exploring, and there are plenty of marked walking trails leading you to the finest spots in the area.

The Tenerife Carnival is held in Santa Cruz, and is often cited as being the second largest street carnival after the famous Rio Carnival. The Carnival is an amazing sight, filled with colour and noise. Graceful dancers, costumed revellers and amazed spectators fill the streets, and the festivals peak, which arrives on the Friday night, is a spectacle in itself, when almost anything goes! Tickets for the coronation of the Carnival Queen go on sale a week before the event.

North Tenerife is certainly not short on beaches either. The coast is lines with beaches, ranging from golden sands to the famous black volcanic sands that Tenerife's beaches are famous for. Water sports are less readily available than they are in South Tenerife, but there are still plenty of opportunities to go scuba diving, deep sea fishign and windsurfing from a self catering North Tenerife villa or apartment.

Places to visit on holiday in North Tenerife

Tenerife’s capital, Santa Cruz, is a fantastically vibrant town, filled with hidden delights. Although the city does sprawl a little, the Anaga Mountains provide a stunning backdrop to the shop, museum and gallery filled streets. The waterfront provides a perfect antidote if you need one after enjoying the excellent shopping. Many people have visited, been captivated and ended up in long term lets in North Tenerife, or even buying!

The coastal town of Candelaria is a beautiful town steeped in centuries of history and famed for the large statue of the Virgin Mary that washed up on its shores in the year 1390. The town is quiet and deeply religious, as well as being a perfect spot to really relax into a Tenerife lifestyle.

Travel to North Tenerife

North Tenerife Airport or Los Rodeos Airport (TFN) is just 11km outside Santa Cruz. Although there are no direct flights to North Tenerife from the UK, there are a great number of connecting flights throughout the Canary Islands, Spain and much of mainland Europe.

Exactly as described... beautiful

5 of 5
August 17. We had the most amazing time in this beautiful house. Anabel met us and showed us where everything was and the best places to shop. Carrefour is quick and easy to get too. We spent most of our time on the beach at Playa la Nea which was a 10 min walk. Small and quiet with a beach bar..excellent. We hired a car to see as much of island as possible. La Laguna especially worth a visit as were the beaches north on the other side of the island.. Playa de Benijo was fabulous and worth the mountain drive! Closest restaurant was in Raduzal but we didn't bother as the view from our balcony as we ate each night was better than paying for any meal out! Waking to watch the sun rise from the bedroom windows and drinking wine under the stars to the sound of the waves... what's not to like? Thank you Anabel for the most relaxing holiday.

Great holiday in a little town and in a comfortable apartment

5 of 5
The apartment is spacious, comfortable and located only 5 min on foot from Las Teresitas Beach. There is everything what you need for holidays. The apartment is very clean and well equipped. You can feel there like at your home. There was no problem with Wi-Fi. ... and what is the most important: the owners of the apartment are very good hosts! San Andres is a tiny town and everything you need to enjoy the holiday you have at sight from the window: bakery, a small supermarket, fish restaurant with delicious fresh sea-food, local bars, italian restaurant etc. I recommend this place for those, who like the local tastes and relax away from the big tourists' resorts. Around the town San Andres you can climb the beautiful Anaga Mountains. When you miss the city, in ten minutes by car or bus you can be in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and enjoy the life of capital city.
