The apartment was lovely and had plenty of room for the 4 of us. I nice view of the sea with a large patio to enjoy. There was a great welcome pack waiting for us on arrival. The apartment has all the facilities and utensils you need, washing machine etc.. The whole process was smooth and the owner replies quickly to any questions. The only thing I would say is that would have been nice to have Wifi and air conditioning, but that would just have made the apartment more expensive I guess. There was a nice new floor fan anyway. Lastly, the kids (and I) loved the pool, which was never very busy.
From the moment we arrived the owners made us very welcome, there was fresh fruit and bottles of water in the apartment for us. The apartment was spotlessly clean throughout, and well stocked with utensils and crockery. The beds were comfortable and the sheets perfectly clean. Our bath towels were changed once during our stay, which we hadn't expected, and was appreciated. Overall we were extremely pleased with the apartment, and also the owners who were not intrusive but were available if needed.
The only downside was we found the area quite noisy outside in the early hours, lots of noisy people walking back from the restaurants throughout the night, local businesses opening (car workshop) and the street sweeper driving up and down daily at 5:30! Whether this was because we had unknowingly booked during the local summer festival I can't say, I wish we'd done our homework as a group of people drumming out in the street at 06:30 was a shock to say the least. If you're not up for this wake up then avoid being there August 1st!
Some areas of Playa de San Juan have yet to embrace tourists, our Spanish is poor and we had a few issues with communication as English is not widely spoken here. There are lovely sunsets, but we were made to feel uncomfortable a couple of times during evening walks by locals sitting in groups outside restaurants, who were clearly talking loudly about us, and watching us, as we passed. This being said the majority of the establishments we visited were warm and welcoming.
The beach was very clean, and we had no trouble getting loungers (2 loungers with a table and shade €7:50 for the day) with waited service from reasonably priced beach bar if you wanted it. Safe swimming, but pack flip flops as the sand is very hot and pebbly at the waters edge.
