Make a holiday apartment in Callao Salvaje your home away from home

Holiday apartments in Callao Salvaje are in a small coastal town just along the coast from some of Tenerife’s best beaches and resort attractions, and nestled between two coastal reserves. This makes it a versatile place to be—ideal for families who want plenty of activities, nightlife and amenities, but who also value peace, seclusion and natural beauty.

Most holiday villas in Callao Salvaje are recent constructions, purpose built for comfortable family getaways, and capable of accommodating six or more guests. Outside are spacious gardens and barbecues, while pools are provided by most rentals and appeal to kids and grownups alike. Inside most rentals afford contemporary facilities like dvd players, dishwashers, satellite TV and wi-fi.

Things to do

-Beaches: La Caleta has a quiet and natural beach moments away, with a pleasing absence of large scale development. HomeAway also has a selection of holiday rentals at this destination. For all the fun and activities of a modern resort the tourist beaches of Playa Las Americas and Los Cristianos are just a few minutes by car down the coast from Callao Salvaje. Among the best here are La Troya, Torviscas and Pinta.

-Family fun: Southwestern Tenerife has everything a family could need for a holiday that will live long in the memory. For younger visitors there are two water parks—there’s Siam Park, which has been constructed in the form of a Thai temple complex and has cutting-edge slides and water attractions, and Aqualand, which also has slides and pools, as well as dolphin shows and demonstrations.

-Outdoor recreation: Callao Salvaje is a fine destination for guests who want some adventure. The waters here are ideal for diving, and there are centres nearby equipped for both newcomers and seasoned underwater explorers. Beneath the waves are volcanic caves, shipwrecks and abundant wildlife that includes sea turtles. On dry land there’s the Barranco de Erques close by—this large ravine that has a sheer drop and is protected as a natural park.

-Excursions: Southwest Tenerife is in one of the best spots on the planet to see marine wildlife, with 31 different species of whales and dolphins either living or passing through the waters off this part of the island. There are numerous companies arranging boat trips for better views. On land it would also be a great idea to set off and see some more of Tenerife’s volcanic landforms. Head north along the west coast for the Macizo de Teno, with caves, ravines, awe-inspiring cliffs and incredible birdlife that includes kestrels, ospreys and falcons.

-El Teide: Undoubtedly one of Tenerife’s highlights, El Teide is a volcano that stands at a height of 3,718 metres, making its peak the highest place in Spain. Visitors can explore the lunar landscapes that surround the volcano or catch the cable car that runs to a station near the top. Here there are scenic viewpoints for unforgettable panoramas of the island.

Weather in Callao Salvaje

One of the many great things about Tenerife is the climate, which promises warm or moderately warm conditions all year round. The island has the same latitude as the Sahara Desert, so it makes sense that the weather around Callao Salvaje villas should be so different from locations in mainland Spain. Summers are almost completely dry and get highs of around 28?C by day. November through March is just a little cooler, with daily highs in the low-20s and infrequent rainfall.

Travel to Callao Salvaje

Callao Salvaje holiday apartments are an easy drive from Tenerife South Airport (TFS). This large airport is the main port of entry for people arriving from the UK, and there’s a large number of routes serving this destination from airports throughout the country. Most flights are with charter and low-fares carriers. A holiday in Tenerife will be more convenient with a rental car—the drive from the airport to Callao Salvaje will take about 25 minutes. By bus, the 110 and 111 run to Costa Adeje, and from there it’s possible to catch the 417 or 423 towards Callao Salvaje.

A lovely villa in an area that’s quiet but easily accessible to all the main areas of South Tenerife

4 of 5
The villa is spacious, well equipped and beautifully decorated. We were a group of 7 and we had plenty of room to either be together or do our own thing! The outdoor space is really lovely - nice pool area, bbq, different places to sit and eat and a spacious roof terrace with a great view and optional disco lights! Callao Salvaje is very quiet but only 10 minutes or so from busier areas so very easy to get everything you need and do lots of different things if you want to. Elaine, the villa manager, was really helpful and answered all my questions by email really quickly. We had a great holiday here and would thoroughly recommend it.

Fantastic apartment, everything there what we needed to enjoy our stay, host Dmitry was excellent and answered all our questions quickly. a car would be essential if staying here as local amenities are quite a distance from the complex, will definitely return to this apartment.
