Make a holiday apartment in Arico Viejo your home away from home

Perfect for visitors who want easy access to Tenerife’s top resorts, but still value peace and seclusion, holiday homes in Arico Viejo are just a short hop from the coast in a delightful rural landscape. There’s an incredible array of things to do not far away, from beach trips to fun-filled days out with all the family at Tenerife’s top visitor attractions.

Holiday apartments in Arico Viejo are laid out to provide a relaxing and refreshing escape for even the most hard-to-please guests. Interiors are beautifully presented, and full of the kind of amenities that will make a stay even more comfortable, including wi-fi and satellite TV. Outside there’s a pool at most rentals, as well as an outdoor barbecue, which is always a welcome comfort at self-catering accommodation. If there’s low availability in Arico Viejo, take a look at HomeAway’s selection of rentals in Villa de Arico close by.

Things to do

-Beaches: Here guests have a choice between intimate local bays, and the large tourist beaches of the resorts to the south. There are eight beaches to visit in the Arico area alone. Especially close is the sandy beach at Poris de Abona, which has natural, dark volcanic sands and extends for just over 100 metres. The surf at this beach is moderate making it popular for watersports. HomeAway also has numerous holiday rentals listed in Poris de Abona. Playa Grande is a little longer, at 200 metres, and the waters here are calmer and better suited to smaller children.

-Recreation: The opportunities for outdoor adventure around Tenerife are almost endless. Diving is one of the reasons people flock to the island. No more than 15 minutes away in the car are dive centres welcoming both accredited divers and complete newcomers. The water temperatures are ideal, and there are trips to be had to underwater caves, shipwrecks and more. Walking, cycling and horseback riding are just some of the experiences on offer locally.

-Food and drink: Arico Viejo is in a rural part of the island, where olive groves and vineyards make up much of the landscape. For those who want to sample the local produce, it’s possible to buy oil, olives and wine direct from the producers. Goat and sheep cheeses are also made locally, and well worth trying. Authentic Canarian cuisine is a must during a visit—be sure to sample Papas Arrugadas, which are salted baked potatoes, served with Mojo, a cumin, paprika and garlic sauce.

-El Teide: This stratovolcano is visible across Tenerife, and is an icon of the Canary Islands. It doesn’t take an experienced mountaineer to scale all 3,718 metres, as there’s a cable car that runs to a point not far from the top. From there it’s possible to take in the stunning views, or even head to the summit, which is the highest point in all of Spain.

-Days out: Tenerife has a host of exciting places to visit by car. For family fun, make for Siam Park, the Thai temple-themed waterpark, or Loro Parque, an animal attraction boasting a huge variety of species. Culture is offered by the cities of the north, especially UNESCO-listed San Cristóbal de la Laguna and La Orotava. And for yet more eye-catching nature head northeast to the woodlands of the Añaga Park, or northwest for the rugged beauty of the Teno Peninsula.

Weather in Arico Viejo

Tenerife has a reputation for its pleasant year-round weather conditions. This is because the island has such a southern location, not far from the Tropic of Cancer and parallel to the Sahara Desert. So whenever guests arrive at their Arico Viejo holiday apartment there’s a good chance that warm weather will be on the cards. Even in winter temperatures normally get up to the low-20s. In summer there are highs of about 28?C.

Travel to Arico Viejo

Arico Viejo holiday homes are little more than 20 minutes by road from Tenerife South (TFS). This airport is the main way onto the island for visitors from the UK, and there’s a large choice of flights to this destination throughout the year, but especially in the summer. Most of the journey from the airport to Arico Viejo can be completed on the TF-1 highway, which runs along Tenerife’s coast from north to south.

A beautiful hide away

4 of 5
When Pippo met us at the petrol station in Arico to lead the way, he said that we were going to the World's End. He wasn't wrong, though if the World's End looks as gorgeous as Karin and Pippo's place I want to go there now. Unfortunately we had some grey, sold weather while we were there so we weren't able to take advantage of the lovely, well thought out, welcoming and clean area that Karin and Pippo have created. It is the perfect place to stay if you are going on a walking holiday. There are lots of really beautiful walks in the surrounding hillside. What could be better than coming back, putting your feet up and relaxing around the pool! It is absolutely necessary to hire a car so you can get to the restaurants that Karin and Pippo recommend. We went down the coast to the fish restaurants and it didn't disappoint. I have considered it is the perfect place to bring my family. We are all adults now and to hire all the units just for us would be a lovely experience. Thank you Karin and Pippo for your welcoming and helpful approach, we may see you again.
