Seven World Cup matches are scheduled to take place in Rio starting with Argentina v Bosnia-Herzegovina on 15th June. Spain face Chile three days later followed by Belgium v Russia on 22nd. The final group game sees Ecuador take on France on 25th June. Group C’s table topper will play the group D runner-up on 28th, then, moving into July, a quarter final tie is lined up for 4th, before the final itself is hosted here on 13th.

For those who desire five-star treatment, there’s the option of a holiday apartment on Copacabana Beach complete with large screen TV, 100 channels, wifi-connected laptop, Apple TV with Netflix and maid service. VERY nice apartment in the heart of Ipanema

5 of 5
The apartment is located in the heart of Ipanema, close to restaurants and juice bars and close to the beach. It’s spacious exactly like the pictures show, with all the commodities of a proper home (tv microwave washing machine and dish washer). Definitely recommended!

4 of 5
The Copacabana beach view from the balcony and master suite is incredible in this penthouse! We ate breakfast on the balcony and marveled at the ocean and Pao de Acucar jutting up in the distance and spent evenings at the wrap around window sitting on the sofa in the master suite watching the lights and listening to the music provided each evening on the beach. During the day we used the beach towels and chairs provided and walked right across the street to the beach. Loved the ease of getting to the beaches (Ipanema is only a 10 minute walk) and a grocery store and great restaurants within seconds of stepping outside. ( Our favorite spots to eat were Eclipse and Sindicato do Chopp). The beds and sofas were comfortable enough and the decor was attractive and interesting. There were air conditioners in the bedrooms which helped sleeping. A nice perk was the water purifier in the kitchen to have cool drinking water on demand and washer to clean your clothes. The property owners were very helpful and friendly as well as the doorman. We will return again! Cons: the wifi internet rarely worked and the upstairs kitchen had unbearable heat and needs an a/c unit and the fan in the master bathroom is so LOUD. But these were minor annoyances compared to the location, view and city of Rio.
