Tranquil Relaxing bit of Paradise

5 of 5
After a hectic and exhausting week at the Rio Olympics (which was most enjoyable), Casa Tataruga was just what the doctor ordered!! It was like being cast away on your own desert island away from modern life but with all the mod cons on hand. The whole experience was an adventure.....the peace and tranquility of where the house is situated, being able to connect with a world that normally doesn't exist in our everyday lives. Yara was fantastic in ensuring that our needs were catered for and ensured that our holiday was everything that we had hoped for. Some of the largest prawns I have ever seen would appear via Suelee who also prepared a mean creme caramel for us. Yara arranged for a trip to a mountain village where we just happened to stop off at a distillery at 1000 for some light refreshment, a lavender farm owned by an Englishman in the middle of nowhere, then on to various pottery studios and finally to a hidden restaurant where the owner prepared a delicious lunch in very tranquil setting. There is a secluded beach next door to the house with a school which is populated by a small group of young children who arrive in the morning by boat!!! We were also entertained one Sunday by a 5 a side soccer tournament on the beach. Casa Tartaruga lived up to its name when we saw a turtle languidly swimming by on more than one occasion. All in all it is a quiet, tranquil place - a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of life. The weather was hot and it was such a pleasure to be able to drop into the sea to cool off. I didn't use the kayak or paddle ski because it would entail a level of effort that I didn't want to muster. Batteries were fully charged when I returned to the UK. Can't wait to go back there.

Amazing place to stay

5 of 5
This place is absolutely amazing! We initially stayed as a Group of 16 during the World Cup in this property and another Paraty beachfront property. The intention was to have 8 people in each property. Within an hour of arriving, we had 14 adults in Simon and Helena's place, and only 2 in the other Beach front property! Simon and Helena go the extra mile in organising every off and on site detail. Cida and Tereza do all your cooking, washing, cleaning with no fuss. Simon will organise everything, from making sure we had enough beers, going to the supermarket, chemist, doctor anything. Simon then organises all the off site excursions with a wide network of local drivers and suppliers. Simon organises, they will pick you up and take you wherever you want to go. Simon is English, but speaks fluent Portuguese, as does Helena. After the Group of 14 left, my family from New Zealand arrived, with friends and our Group of 7 had a great extra week. Very relaxing! This place can genuinely sleep 18, but groups of 10-14 will feel very comfortable, as we did. Go to this place! you will love it!
