Asturias is close to many attractions in the state of Sao Paulo. For example the city of Santos is a 45 minute trip by car and ferry and has many popular attractions such as an aquarium, the Museum of Sacred Art and the Museum of the Sea. The Municipal Orchidarium in Santos is a small park with a tree nursery, a pond, waterfall and an aviary and is well worth visiting. Santos also features historic religious buildings including a 16th century convent and 18th century chapel. About 50 minutes from Asturias is Sao Vicente where tourists can visit sights such as as the Museum of Historical Institute and Parque das Naus. Visitors may like to take a one hour and 20 minute drive from Asturias to the capital city Sao Paulo, where there are many more interesting museums and historic buildings.

The weather in the Sao Paulo region remains mild to warm all year round, the lowest temperatures of around 12 degrees centigrade being experienced during nights in July. The highest temperatures of around 27 degrees centigrade occur during the hottest months of January and February. The summer months are also the wettest with January averaging about 225 mm of rainfall compared to the July average of 35mm.
