This resort is located on the west coast of the country and has many things for holidaymakers to do and see. Ostend has a long and sandy beach and is great place to relax and soak up the sun or take a swim in the North Sea. Watersports are available here such as surfing, diving and kayaking. Several cycling routes are located in the area providing great scenery all around and skateboarders can use specially designated areas. Ostend also offers some scenic paths with paths and trails taking hikers along the coast. Mini-golf, skating, badminton, tennis and bowling are activities for the whole family to enjoy here, whilst there are golf courses in the city too. Freshwater and shoreline fishing can be done in Ostend as well. Bars, cafes and restaurants in and around the resort offer a good mix of menus ranging from local fare through to various international styles. A good range of shopping can be found here with places for self catering holidaymakers to purchase food and drink. Tourists will also find markets and stores selling gifts and souvenirs in the area.

Ostend has many interesting historic places and museums such as the Art Museum by the Sea and Earth Explorer. Other fascinating sites are the Church St Petrus ad Paulus and St Pieter’s Tower as well as the Seamen’s Memorial. The area also has some very attractive parks and gardens including the Japanese Garden. A good way to see the city is by horse drawn carriage or on the miniature train. Many other cultural places are open in Ostend including galleries, theatres and cinemas. Flanders is approximately 50 kilometres away and is a significant historic site with tours of the battleground from World War I provided here.

Brussels International Airport (BRU) is approximately one hour and 10 minutes drive from Ostend. This is a wonderful apartment directly on the seafront within walking distance of the town centre. The owner speaks English and the letting arrangements were straightforward. The flat is well equipped, clean and tidy. We would return again. Maureen & Ronnie

Town Centre but quiet, well situated flat, handy for beach, shops, trains, buses, & Coastal Tramway

Well equipped, roomy one bedroom flat, with parking (usually payable) in basement or across the road as required. Very quiet despite being in town centre within walking distance of all attractions. Well equipped, comfortable & cool in hot summer weather. Ideal for exploring coast or inland attractions of West Flanders, such as Bruges, Ghent or Antwerp & Flanders Fields. For British visitors very easy to reach via Zeebrugge, Dunkirk or Calais car ferries. Plenty of in-town attractions, bars & good quality restaurants, museums, Fishermens Quay etc to keep you busy, or just bask on the excellent local beaches. Owner is a great guy-friendly & very helpful. We recommend the apartment and the area very highly.
