Make a holiday rental home or villa in St Thomas, Caribbean your home away from home

The parish of St Thomas, Barbados, not to be confused with the US Virgin Island of St Thomas, Caribbean, is the central parish of the island. St Thomas is little visited by the crowds which often blight the more popular coastal regions, providing visitors with an unrivalled insight into Barbadian life, and the stunning countryside that makes up the Caribbean’s finest island.

Things to do in St Thomas, Barbados

One of Barbados’ most famous and awe-inspiring attractions lies right in the heart of St Thomas. Harrison’s Cave is a colossal cavern and network of caves, which contain an incredible range of sights, from enormous stalactites and stalagmites to deep emerald coloured pools. There are regular guided tours of Harrison’s Cave, with an electronic tram taking astounded visitors deep into the caves, right down to the spectacular underground waterfall which never fails to amaze.

Nature lovers will be absolutely delighted with the prospect of staying in St Thomas accommodation, as the tropical conditions allow life to flourish for all types of animal and plant species. The Welchman Hall Gully, as well as being a naturally stunning setting, is also home to many species. Stretching for almost a mile, the gully is truly enchanting, with tropical plants adorning the collapsed cave network which created Welchman Hall. Green Monkeys are especially numerous here. The Highlands of Barbados are a particularly popular site for walking, cycling and horse riding in Barbados, facilities and guides for which are readily available.

Polo has become hugely popular in Barbados, and St Thomas is one of the parishes in which polo has really taken hold. Lessons can be arranged at many of the stables, but if you would prefer to enjoy the sport as a spectator, you shall not want for opportunities from a holiday rental villa in St Thomas, Barbados. Cricket is a hugely important part of life in the area too, and any cricketers heading to Barbados will be perfectly placed for both spectating and playing in the Caribbean sun.

Places to visit in St Thomas, Barbados

Of course, a holiday to Barbados would not be complete without at least a day stretched out on the exotic, white sand beaches the island has become famed for. A villa in St Thomas is just a 10 minute drive from the world famous beaches of the West Coast, where the beach life thrives. The numerous water sports you can enjoy along the West Coast are world class, with deep sea fishing rating among the best in the world, whilst sailing, surfing, scuba diving and windsurfing holidays are absolutely sensational.

Climate in St Thomas, Barbados

The climate in St Thomas is wonderfully steady, and wonderfully mild. Temperatures in the heart of the island are a little cooler than conditions along the coast, with average monthly temperatures remaining between 24 and 29°C throughout the year.

Tranquil Oasis

5 of 5
We loved the privacy of the outdoor living space. The pool was larger than expected and beautifully clean. Well equipped kitchen, great oven and hob so really easy to cook and BBQ also well used! Very comfortable bed, great shower pressure and plenty of hot water. Claudette, the housekeeper does a great job and the owner let us know in advance when she was coming which acknowledged the importance of privacy. Natalie, the villa manager was there to meet us and to see us off which was a nice touch. A car is really essential as local buses are few and far between and the house is quite a walk from Holetown. Parking right in front of the house so no problem. Would we return, absolutely!

Private and secluded

We spent 2 wonderful weeks in Villa Knysna. Such a comfortable, spacious, lush environment, very secluded, everything we could possibly need. Holetown and the glorious west coast beaches just a short drive away.
