St. Lucy is the northernmost parish of Barbados, St Lucy, and Freyers Well occupies a small area along the islands north-west coast, perfectly positioned to make the most of the fantastic beaches that the country is renowned for. There is much more to see and do than just sunbathe, however, with good quality walking and hiking, a laid-back but enjoyable nightlife, and many top dining options to be found just a short distance from the holiday rental villas in Freyers Well.
It goes without saying that the vast majority of visitors to Barbados are seeking the perfect beach holiday. Fryers Well does not disappoint on this score, as it is positioned on the north-west coast, where a number of highest quality white sandy beaches are situated – perfect for sunbathing and getting that desired all-over tan.
Next to the beaches, the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and cooling off in when the sun reaches its most intense during the early afternoon. Heading slightly inland the terrain becomes hilly and greener, and ideal for hiking, walking and horseback riding, taking in the fantastic coastal views as you get higher up.
As well as being a secluded base for sun seekers, Freyers Well is also a good destination for those seeking a golfing break, as there are three courses within the near vicinity, including the famous Sandy Lane golf course and spa resort, which offers world-class facilities to be enjoyed amongst almost guaranteed sunny weather.
Historic Speightstown is just a short distance from Freyers Well, and is where you will find the best local amenities, such as shops, banks, restaurants and bars. The capital city of Bridgetown and historic Holetown are also both within easy reach, and offer some of the island’s top tourist attractions.
The moderate tropical climate of Barbados means that visitors to Freyers Well can expect year-round temperatures of between 24C and 29C. The period from June to November is regarded as the wet season, so those that choose to visit during these months should be aware that there may be the occasional short, heavy storm.
Despite Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) being located at the opposite end of Barbados, the relatively small size of the island means that it is still just 18 miles from Freyers Well. Thomson Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines are two of the busiest UK operators that fly to this destination, with regular departures from Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester.
