A slice of paradise

If you are thinking about booking, stop thinking and just do it! We could not speak highly enough of the property or our hosts. Waking up in the mornings to that view is a memory that I will treasure my whole life and I can't expect it to be beaten! On to the practicalities - the flat / house is well equipped with everything you might need and more, outside there are kayaks, snorkels, goggles, toys.... and the hammocks (2 of them) strung between palm trees come straight from the movies. Peter and Mary were wonderful hosts, welcoming and informative but not interfering. There is a bus stop right outside, and a $1.25 trip takes you straight into Nassau centre. The house is peaceful and tranquil, but the bus means you are close enough to the supermarket and the hustle bustle of the town. As Mary says herself in her description, you do need beach shoes, when the tide is out, crossing the rocks to get into that beautifully clear warm sea to swim amongst all those tropical fish, can be a challenge!! We have been back almost a week now and it is already feeling like a bit of a dream, but I would have NO HESITATION in recommending this property or these hosts. P.S. I did read a review which described the property as a bit "tired", personally I think that is harsh! Unless you were expecting some kind of 10 * hotel experience with lots of shiney chrome and glass, you will be more than happy!

I didn't think it was possible to reach such a deep level of relaxation!

This is our second year in a row to Palm Cay. We didn't think it could get any better - but it did. I booked directly with John and he virtually got back to me within hours of each question. Nothing was too much trouble. The apartment - decorated beach style is stunning - the very best home from home you can imagine - and a view that you cannot ever get tired of. Not only did we arrive to a generous basket of 'start up' groceries, but the apartment was stocked with every possible thing one could need to make the holiday a success - a broom (for those who don't always like the sand through the house), loads of candles, floats for the pool/sea, salt, pepper, sugar, soaps and shampoos and plenty plenty kitchen utensils. Clearly the thing to do is to leave those non perishables behind for the next guest. What a great idea! (John, the cupboard is stocked for the next guest. :)) Oh - and did I mention the shower on the beach? Such a bonus! A trip to the grocery store is a quick 10 minute drive where you can purchase any and everything you need. A well stocked and helpful pharmacy is next door as is a perfectly adequate wine shop. The staff and Palm Cay are super friendly and go out of their way to help. A must is a boat trip with the resort owner's son (Blake). Thanks to Blake, we spent our last day swimming with the turtles - an exhilarating experience. The Beach Club has it's own pool, loungers, a small Starbucks cafe, a beach bar and a great restaurant. They currently have plans to build another pool and increase the size of the pool area. If you are wanting to be away from the hustle and bustle of cruise ship liners - a place where you can kick off the hassles of life and live in your swim suite from morning to night, this is the spot. And yes, we have plans to return! (Thank you John!!)
