Make a holiday rental home or chalet in Styria, Austria your home away from home

The large region of central Austria, Styria, which stretches down as far as the Slovenia border, is a mountainous region that draws visitors from around the world to bask in the stunning scenery, from the lush, green hills of the fringes to the striking alpine peaks of the central region. Although Styria is famous for its excellent winter sports, the undeniable charm, awe-inspiring scenery and rustic spas of the region are of huge appeal, throughout the year.

Things to do in Styria, Austria

The beautiful, rugged and unspoilt countryside of Styria mean that is an outdoor activity haven of almost incomparable quality. The winter months see skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers flocking to self catering Styria accommodation to tackle the fearsome pistes and gruelling trails through the mountains, as well as take to some of the 24 toboggan runs which adorn the lower slopes of the Austrian Alps.

The summer months do not see any dip in demand for holiday rentals in Styria. The sublime walking is a huge attraction, whilst mountain bikers flock to chalets in the mountains to attempt some of Austria’s finest mountain biking trails. Horse riding, fishing, golf and white water rafting holidays also thrive throughout the summer.

Styria is also one of the best regions for health and fitness breaks. The crisp air and sublime mountain scenery makes the region a wonderfully relaxing, healthy destination, and there are eight spa centres, more than twenty thermal bath destinations and a great range of specialist health and fitness resorts to find, in winter and in the summer months.

Dachstein-Tauern is Styria’s premium ski area, located in the north west of the region. Murau is a magnificent summer base for walking and climbing holidays. The region is carpeted in thick pine forests in the upper valleys of the River Mur, and walkers arrive from acrossEuropeto enjoy some of Austria’s finest walking, riding and climbing. During the winter months, the ski resorts in the south of the region are highly popular.

As the name suggests, the South Styrian Wine Lands are a fertile wine producing region in the south of Styria. The vine town of Leibnitz lies at the centre of the South Styrian Wine Lands, and connoisseurs visit to appreciate the beautiful wine cellars and highly palatable wines produced in this largely overlooked corner of Austria.

Ausseerland-Salzkammergut is an adventure playground of the highest quality. There are very few outdoor sports that do not thrive in the region, which is perfectly suited for family activity holidays, all year round.

Really lovely apartment and great value

5 of 5
The apartment is very spacious and very well equipped, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The bedrooms are both good sizes, balconies are very nice, the view is amazing. Stephan is a fantastic host, very good at communicating before and during our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. The apartment is great value for the area. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to others. It was perfect for our family trip with young children.

A wonderful place to stay!

5 of 5
We had a wonderful 9-day summer stay in August, having come over from England (sorry this review is in English!). The house was fantastic and the area very beautiful. My eight-year-old twins loved climbing some of the local peaks, going to high-wire parks and local swimming pools. My elderly father was happy sitting on the great verandah, drinking a beer and watching the sun set over the mountains. We loved the little bread van that came each morning, and our kids had lots of fun playing with other children in nearby houses. We hugely recommend staying here. A perfect place for a relaxing summer holiday.
