Very pleasant, everything needed is supplied. Good access to local transport and shops nearby. Noisy railway nearby, but no improvement possible! Provision of air conditioning would be an improvement during hot weather to overcome lack of through ventilation.

We stayed a second time ...

We stayed a second time and will come back again. As regular visitors to Vienna we had no need, or desire, to stay in the first district. Further, the children are now young adults and we needed more space than staying at friends. Our accommodation search focussed on this area as it is convenient and safe. Two stops from the Volksoper and 5 from Shottentor on the Ring, which is a 10-minute stroll to St Stephens Cathedral. The area has nice old architecture and if you wander down Gymnasiumstrasse you will see the lovely villas of the richer class. Outside the apartment you will find eveything you need from supermarket, local produce market, delicatessen (Radatz), traditional food (Wilder Mann), and shopping. Make a daily visit to Der Mann (bakery) just across the street. Yes, the apartment is old but that is its charm we like and Philipp is progressively improving it. Plenty of space for four, and if you are overly sensitive to the sound of trams, sleep in the back room. We hope Philipp will not improve it too much as it will be too popular and become unaffordable for us.
