Comfortable home from home

4 of 5
We stayed for 6 nights in August. We were greeted personally by George, the owner who lives next door and who is very helpful with any questions. The house is very newly renovated to a high standard. The property is convenient for seeing the Wachau area and it is only approximately a one hour drive to Vienna. The only disappointment was the lack of outside space during our stay which is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. The patio had been recently washed away and George was in the process of rebuilding it while we were there. This should however be rectified in the very near future so don't let it put you off booking.

Perfect house and a lovely stay

5 of 5
I rented this house with my husband and our 2 year old daughter for 3 nights. The house is brilliant - spotlessly clean, very spacious and superbly equipped. The house has a private entrance to the rear and consists of an open lounge, diner, kitchen that is spacious and decorated with careful thought. There's a single bedroom with large built-in storage where our daughter stayed happily, a bathroom and a hall with plenty of space for coats and bags. From the lounge you go upstairs into the mezzanine level which has a double bed, storage and a table and chair. Stairs up to the mezzanine level are quite steep and I wouldn't recommend for someone who is infirm or very young, but we had no issue. Outside there's a large swimming pond where you can swim with lots of fish! There's also a nice (shared) garden and a private area with table and chairs. You can walk (20 mins) or drive (5 mins) into Modling which is a lovely town with plenty of nice restaurants, supermarket, shops etc. From Modling you can take the train into Vienna which takes just 20 mins and is very straightforward. The Lichtenstein Castle is a nice 5 - 10 mins walk from the house and is surrounded by a beautiful woodland. Dorit and Johannes who own the house couldn't have been more helpful and kind. They even managed to fix our pushchair which had decided to break at the worst possible time! I would strongly recommend this rental house for anyone wanting to explore Austria and Vienna but with a quiet place to return to at the end of the night.
