Landstrasse is the third district in the wonderful city of Vienna in Austria. Things to Do on Holiday to Landstrasse, Austria

There are several tourist attractions in the Landstrasse district including the Hundertwasser House. This is a former council block that has been transformed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser with a mix of bright colours, onion shaped domes and a garden on the roof. If you love this building then you can visit the nearby Kunsthaus Wien, another of his creations that houses a collection of his artwork.

Whilst basking in the sunshine of the summer months, visitors flock to the Prater Park in Landstrasse, a legendary funfair with a huge Ferris wheel that was made famous by the film “The Third Man”. Prater Park also has some woodland and meadows to explore that were once part of an imperial hunting ground.

For something a bit out of the ordinary during your stay, head along to the Funeral Museum in the district. This museum gives you an insight into the religious rites and customs of Viennese burials, past and present, with special displays relating to all things funerary.

To the east of Landstrasse is the fourth district of Vienna, Wieden. This is a beautiful area of the city with many historical buildings that are pleasing to the eye. The main area of focus for visitors is the Karlsplatz where the KarlsKirche Church stands. This magnificent structure is a fine example of Baroque architecture and is a quiet spot to relax away from the throng of the city.

Also worth a visit in the district of Wieden is the Kunstlerhaus. This building is beautiful inside and out and acts as a host to many special exhibitions. The Kunstlerhaus Cinema is also an attraction of this building and regular showings of films of artistic interest can be seen here. Wieden is also home to the City History Museum. This imposing building may seem drab from the outside but houses a vast collection of Viennese history as well as paintings by famous artists such as Klimt.

Landstrasse is blessed with a variable climate and travellers can expect to enjoy hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures regularly reach an impressive 25°C during the summer months and it is best to find some indoor activities to keep cool due to the discomfort of the heat. Winter months see temperatures drop as low as 1°C in December and January. In some years it has been known for the temperature to drop into the early minus figures during the winter.

Nice dupelx flat, excellent location in a modern house in the center, close to everything; convenient supermarket 5 min walk. Very good and efficient communication with the owner, all was properly organized. Beautiful small terrace with view on Vienna roofs, and Stefansdom. I recommend this flat!

Very clean and spacious property in a good location

We were looking for a property with character but well modernised and were not disappointed. The flat is not located in a touristy area but it's very quick to get into the centre of town by underground. We even walked there on a couple of occasions and you can also walk to the Prater. There are small shops, bakeries and restaurants very close by. Definitely recommended.
