Everything you can think of.....

4 of 5
Haus Bergheim may not be the easiest place to find (we drove past it 3 times before working out which drive we needed to go up!) but once you do, it's worth the effort. Sue and Les Milner have put a great deal of thought into the renovation of this property to provide a ground floor apartment which is what you rent, plus an upstairs apartment where they live. The rental apartment had everything we needed or could imagine needing! It's very comfortable, warm, the facilities are high quality and easy to use. The walk-in power shower in the bathroom is extremely good, and has both a shower head you can hold as well as a huge one above your head. There's also a separate loo (i.e. 2 toilets). The Milners are friendly, very helpful and can provide lots of practical advice. Their black lab, Merlin, is an added bonus! The area is beautiful, with Bad Goisern having several cafes with the usual good coffee, but nearby Bad Ischl stole the show for us - absolutely gorgeous town about 20 minutes' drive north with lovely walks (and restaurants) alongside the river with stunning views, and home to the Kaiser Palace, so with parks and amazing architecture. We didn't have the opportunity, but there are apparently loads of off road mountain-biking trails to suit various abilities, but read up about ticks before you go - they are very prevalent and can carry encephalitis, so cover up in the countryside and if bitten, the advice is to go to an A&E department for an enoculation (all Austrians are vaccinated).

We were 2 families and all of us - children and adults - were absolutely happy. The house was very nice, comfortable and clean. Communication with owner and later with Mrs. Johanna was very good. We recommend it!!!
